Re: So I finally started...
yeah but i've got to go buy new brake calipers too
and the hardware, and who the hell knows what else. I am going to buy it tomorrow regardless, and paint the calipers blue. whether it all gets installed, i cannot make any promises. I've got a lot of homework to be doing. |

Re: So I finally started...
Ok I am sorry, no photos yet. I went and bought the rear supplies for the brakes. Then i came home... I needed to paint them and what do you know?! My dad had some Blue G2 caliper paint he never used lol.... I painted them, and now they are curing. Tomorrow is the day I will start to bolt stuff together, hopefully I have everything I need haha.

Re: So I finally started...
Dude I am telling ya, for the back, it MIGHT be everything I need, tomorrow we will find out. I know I don't have everything for the front, I need the caliper bolts, but this damn place I went to today said they didn't have them. Whatever, so I came home, figured if I get the back done that's the most important, after the body is back on, the front will still be a piece o cake to get too. Here's the only photo I took, it's not the greatest, but it works....
The G2 caliper paint, looks NOTHING like the advertisement on the box, at all, it's way dark lol. That's better though, it's not too far off from what I'd like to paint the truck. ![]() |

Re: So I finally started...
I did two coats. It looks like it's not covered well, but I think it's the lighting? It was dark in the garage with the flash on this high tech camera, so that might have something to do with it. In sunlight they look alot better... as a matter of fact I might just snap some new photos outside today, it's beautiful here!

Re: So I finally started...
OK! I got the back all bolted on, decided that, the calipers need another coat, so I called it a day. I will work on it some more when I get the paint in. It looks alright, just not good enough.

Re: So I finally started...
im hoping. It would've been nice to get some big rotors, do a big brake upgrade, but maybe that will come later. I just don't have the funds for it now. I think it still looks good with the rotors I have.

Re: So I finally started...
Came to two conclusions today, the first.... G2 paint company, is the bomb, period. I purchased my kit last night, around 4:30 PM, and I got it this morning, at 10:00. Mind you, they are right in Illinois, but still, that's awesome. Second, they have moved up in life (business, whatever). They have little information in their kits now that wasn't there before. Like the shelf live of only 6 months. My dad had that kit sitting in the basement for over a year and a half, hence the not looking like it should. I have put two coats on it already, and man, does it look nice. The pictures are not the greatest because they are in the sun, but I am telling you, I am very impressed.

Re: So I finally started...
Got em bolted on the back of the truck, since that would be "more" difficult to fiddle with when the body is back on. Since I am going to get it tomorrow, and I will more than likely have it back on the frame by tomorrow evening/early sunday, figured i'd bolt them on. They look nice! (sorry no photos)

Re: So I finally started...
alrighty, today I went and picked up the body, didn't get a chance to put it on BUT i did take some photos before it was too dark. The bodywork looks good. It still needs to be blocked, and to be finished as far as prep goes. Probably another coat or two of primer, but this was just to get the ball rolling. It looks really good, and I am quite pleased with how it came out. Yellow FTW

Re: So I finally started...
looks like a step in the right direction. I know i've got a long way to go, but this felt good none the less. when I get it on the frame, and maybe hang one of the doors, it will feel good to see it sitting on the rocker in the driveway. I don't foresee the fenders taking TOO long to mock up, and finish, hopefully things will go somewhat smoothly for a little while. I cannot spend big bucks like I could if I were working for GM, but I will get done what I can, when I can. I might go back to apply where I worked before, but I'll wait a little while to see how things play out.
