Re: So I finally started...
For those who care!
well I am still around, with the new job, and school full time I dont have much free time for... anything. The frame is at barely legal right now. I bought my wheels on monday. I decided against the 20/22 combo, went with some 20 inch intro twisted vistas. Should be here in about a month or so! I will post pictures as soon as I get any more information! |

Re: So I finally started...
good choice in wheels kenny! intros are the shit!
do you want me to post the pics of the build in this thread? it would be easier for me, bcause sending them through email is a pain in the ass! or if you want them through email i can, it will just take a little longer. Taylor |

Re: So I finally started...
No sir you can post them in here! I would appreciate that more, then if I want them I can save them, just make sure they are big! I am talking to my uncle about tires, he can get me a deal. I am thinking some 245/40/20 up front, and 255/45/20 in the rear. I also have a couple other things I have decided but I will just PM you.

Re: So I finally started...
minor update: Taylor said he should be posting pictures tonight, keep an eye out. Just purchased my tires, figured even though this is a truck, and doesn't need the sporty tires, why not? I bought the nitto INVO series, I was very happy with the nt-555, so these should work fine! 245/35/20 up front, 255/35/20 out back, again, these will be going on my 20x8.5" twisted vistas! i am getting pumped!

Re: So I finally started...
i had no internet access because of the storm last night
anyways here are some pics. here it is, first day on teh frame table ![]() Stripped everything off the frame, and layed it out flat on the table! ![]() ![]() Then, i moched up all the body mount heights, so that i could come back later and subtract the bodydrop amount, then build the new bodymounts. Thge mounts are permanent on the table, so that i can cut the old frame out, and then put these mounts back in! ![]() ![]() Then, I loped the frame off, from the control arms back, so that we can build a complete frame, instead of using any portion from thare back. the sawzall made very quick work of that! ![]() ![]() Now is my favorite part. The main issue i have with s-10 frames and doing s SFBD frame, is the transition from teh 2x3 sfbd frame to the stock 4"x4" frame. I thought of an idea to section out the middle of the stock frame taking it from 4"x4" Square, to a 2"x4" rectangle, which will match up much better to my 2"x3" SFBD frame im gonna build. Here is a shot of the huge s-10 4"x4" frame rails: ![]() Now here is the shot of the driver side at 2"x4" and passinger side at 4"x4", see ho much nicer it will be to make that 2x3 mate to that, rather than the 4"x4" ![]() Close up ![]() Here is both of them done, sectioned down to a more workable size of 2"x4". ![]() thts all for now, i have to get mroe done today for some pics! taylor |

Re: So I finally started...
Kenny or taylor is the frame going to be powder-coated/painted ? if so is that something that Barely Legal is going to do? Or kenny is that something you waned me to do when I paint the rest of it ?

Re: So I finally started...
You will have to ask Kenny about that, we do have a powder coater that does our chassis if you need it done.

Re: So I finally started...
With the colors he is going with, i would assume you would be better off painting it. All the steel from the firewall back will be fresh, and it will all be smooth, so it will lay really well. From the firewall forward, just give it a good sand blast, and it should be fine. if you CAN find a powdercoat to match the blue you have, we can deffinentally hook you up with a powdercoater. The problem is, to find a powdercoat with a good amount of depth, that matches his shade of blue, ive tried for a while, becuse that was one of my origional colors that i wanted for my frame before i chose the green. There are good color matches, but nothing that matches the depth and shade exactly. No pics today I forgot my camera at work loltommorrow updated pics, with most of the frame rails laid in place.. Re: So I finally started...
Thanks! With what was done today also, it really blends in nicely. took the 2"x4" piece and made it 2"x3", so its a good match now! Taylor |

Re: So I finally started...
black is the only way to go for suspension parts and chassis. Also after you paint the body have the under side line x'ed that way 10 years from now you spray down the under side of the truck and it looks as nice as the day you did it. The chassis and suspension's job is to function and take you down the road, not scream out look at me. I have seen some color look ok under vechiles but they we real dark colors almost a black look.
But just like with any customers build we do its you decision to make not ours, if you want color, color that ****er, if you want black, do black. Richie |

Re: So I finally started...
ill probably just paint it black with the POR15 that has been mentioned numerous times, I plan on driving this thing more than most, so i dont need the underside of my truck as nice as the top... |
