I like the blue and white, but, I might just paint the entire truck the blue, its easier for my painter, and I think it'd still look awesome. We will see what happens when the paint starts spraying I guess.
Why all the second guessing of the truck? I say keep it true to the rendering. It would only take a few extra hours to mask off the truck for the two tone. It's not like there is a 55 color graffic going down the side.

Yeah the rendering is badass, you gotta keep it true to the rendering. Might take a little more time, but taking time and putting that extra effort in is where the really nice trucks are set apart from the rest of the crowd. Your gonna have some very upset people if you change it haha. I'm gonna be one of them!

Re: So I finally started...

I'd get a new painter if he is whining about painting the truck three colors.

If it's a money thing for you...I understand, but then just wait to paint it. Shoot if I was closer i'd paint it for you. I've been painting fot 15 yrs and although it should cost more for the three colors, it really isn't all that hard a design, plus your painter has a road map to laying down the tape!

Shoot the whole center of the truck silver, (if the whole truck is in good shape, scuff up the black and go right over it). If it isn't, scuff it up and shoot the whole truck silver so it will serve as a good base color for all the other colors. You can get pretty cheap silvers, that's the only reason i recommend that...it's probably really not necessary.

Then tape off the silver graphic. It will serve as a taping off point for the other two colors. Then i'd shoot the blue, wait for it to dry and bag it off and tape it along the taped silver. Then i'd shoot the white. the reason i'd do it in that order is if you wanted to get fancy and do a drop shadow for the silver graphic over the white...the bottom of the silver will already be taped off, so it would be easier to airbrush the drop shadow...not that hard.

I'm telling you dude you got a nice thing going here, if the painter is cool and it's the funds thing, i'd sell some of the audio equipment to fund the paint. You can always get more boom later, but what good is a stereo sitting in boxes if you have you truck half torn apart waiting for paint?

It's your ride and you do what you see fit, but if it was me i'd aim for cover truck status paint it true to the rendering.

Keep us posted brother!

Re: So I finally started...

its not an issue of money at all. Its not even an issue to the painter, its me trying to make thing "easier" for him. He thinks he can do it, so Ill let him do it!

Don't take my comments the wrong way bro, if you think the truck would look sweet all blue, by all means do it. You'll have a great looking truck if you paint it one color or three.

Nope, nothing taken in a negative way at all. I started with a plan for a three color design, and that is the route I will be taking. Now, I just need to get some time to work on it, looks like I wont be getting laid off for a couple more weeks now. BUT, I hope to have the body off the frame this sat/sun. Then make arrangements to get it to his house. I cannot do any work on the frame until the body is gone, and he cannot start welding in a roll pan, and shaving all my stuff, and laying paint, until he has the body.

well since I am sure you're all getting bored. i snapped a couple new photos. They are nothing special, and I put my big goofy self in there, just to show how short the dang thing really is. Mind you, I am about 6'4" tall, and I am not standing up straight.

standing about 6'3" with those little slipper type things on, normal shoes, close to 6'4" I'd say. The fuel cell goes under the truck, that large hump in the cargo area was raised so that it could go underneath the truck.

Re: So I finally started...

Kenny just paint it that GAY cameleon color. that way you dont have to make up your mind on what color you want... lol. but for real do th 2 tone paint it wont be that hard, and i dont think the painter should have any trouble with it.. Just show him where you want it to spilt and tape it off...

it was never a doubt the painter type of thing. It was a try to make it a little easier, because the painter is doing me a favor type of thing haha

I bought him a welder, he paints my truck! Its a way of getting his work noticed, as he is relatively new to the game.
