really good body drop idea
ok so when i finally decided to body drop my 98 i thought about how and i came up with this plan. because to lay on a 20 or a 22 you need to tub, i cut the holes about where they need to go. and then in about the middle of the fire wall i cut a 3 1/4 inch strip out of the completely vertical part of the firewall. or what ever size body drop you are doing. then weld it as a but seem instead of a big crappy ugly patch. then tub it. the only weird part was under the pedals for about 10 inches . it worked really well and i would do it again. tell me what you guys think

Re: really good body drop idea
That's about how I did mine!! But I took it all the way across. Minimizes filler pieces
BTW...nice job on your angles side fillers....very clean. |

Looks good. Thats the way I did mine too. Saved time on fillers but the time saved on fillers,.....kills your ass on body work. Its a loose / loose situation. For me, I like the shortened firewall look.

Re: really good body drop idea
thanks guys my fillers were 3/16 thick they went in easy i cut really straight then you can massage the stock floor down to the filler with a hammer without bending them. haha. so did you have to move your booster ans steering colum hole when you went all the wAY across?

Re: really good body drop idea
The booster & column hole stayed above the cut, since those components are all supported by the cast magnesium bracket inside. Also took the accel pedal bracket & moved it inside just to clean it up. You'll need to shorten the pedals as needed, as well.
Edit: Looks like to took your angled plates all the way out to the upstanding pinch weld along the bottom of the door opening....will the stock moldings fit?? Or are you gonna make sumpin custom?? Last edited by CatDaddy52 : 10-23-2009 at 07:01 PM. |

Re: really good body drop idea
it is a weird angle the angle peices are actually about a half an inch away. i bent em down to weld easier then bent em back up. yeah all the seals fit back in just no plastic peices
