it's not a must, it's all in your link setup, and where you set your wheelbase

Re: Project ~ stock floored on 22s

yeah mine did i just need to add some shims so that the tires don't rub when the truck goes up and down. Once the camber starts to buildup i have tons of clearance for driving it low. I have about 1/4" from the top of the hood but i only bded my truck 2.75"

Re: Project ~ stock floored on 22s

probably not unless you shorten the lower bars. I could just unscrew my bars and get away with it (which is what i did before i bodydropped it) but i want my wheels to be centered in the wheel wells. plus i did some comoputer work for a mack truck mechanic and hes getting it shortened it for me for nothing.

Re: Project ~ stock floored on 22s

thanks man.... Yeah ryan's truck is sick. There are a couple things i don't like about it so i decided to build one that i 100% like

Only thing is i will never 100% like my truck either. I figured i would rather do a quick body drop then some sick one of a kind truck because i can't have something off the road that long. If i ever build another one of these its going to be put this one to shame.

Re: Project ~ stock floored on 22s

Lots of good news!

I have been working my ass off with school being out.

I got my front sway bar mocked up and it is 100% working with 2003 F-150 end links
Sway bar end link mounting tabs:

Tabs tacked into place on the lower control arm (the washers and spacers are only on to keep the tabs in place):

Sway bar end link with the truck layed out:

And with the truck at full lift:

Even better news! The wheels are now clearing the inside of the fenders through the suspension travel. I only needed about 1/8" of shims on only one side of the truck to make it work haha. I also rolled the inside lip of the fenders to increase my steering while tucking. Looks like i wouldn't have to retub the firewall either.

I finished my front shocks too... I recessed the brackets into the frame enough so that the shocks don't rub the rims at lock-to-lock turning. Only part that sucks is the rims hit the lower shock bolts so some of the steering travel will be lost. oh well.
Best pic I have:

And lastly, I completed finished the rear. I grinded down all the rust on the frame and axle and painted everything up. The drive shaft was shortened 1 3/4" and new u-joints were installed. I also got the charcoal box mounted up and the rear brakes done.

I hope to get the truck done for june 30th (backwoods bash) so wish me luck!!!

Re: Project ~ stock floored on 22s

yeah i had to notch the frame for the sway bar. The notch isn't too much bigger than the stock one that was already there. Suicide doors told me that you can't run a sway bar with 22's so i felt like proving them wrong! haha. I bunch of thanks goes out to layinbody31 for the idea with the f150 swaybar end links. i will post pics of the notch soon. BTW: i'm running a zq8 swaybar so you may not even have to cut for a regualr one. this a a BAMF swaybar.
