Re: Project ~ stock floored on 22s

Pics of the new parts...

Notched for the tire rods.. (not done wanted to make sure the truck laid out first)

Tie rods are really toeing in the wheels a lot when its laid out... tires just barely hit the tubs

And for the real problem!!! Might want to watch this movie (right click, save as)
Basically the tires rub hardcore on the inside of the fender right where the bodyline is. I really don't think there is any way to fix it! I might have to try some shims on the upper control arms which might mean having to re-tub the firewall! Somebody should just blow my head off so i don't have the finish this ****ing thing. I might consider trying to sell the front wheels and getting some 20's. ****ing 22's...

Re: Project ~ stock floored on 22s

no biggie man, i had the same problem on my 18's. Just add some shims to the control arm, i accually had the camber dead on when i went to get it aligned. Just pure luck on that one, try adjusting the toe yourself to get it close before you get it aligned. Do not give up bro the 22's look sick.

Re: Project ~ stock floored on 22s

UPDATE:
In order for the geometery of my cando 4 link to be correct, i had to run 1" drop blocks. I was really sick of how retarded that looked, so i decided to clean things up. I made my own weld on axle tabs by hand with an angle grinder and some cut off wheels. here is the progress so far...

BEFORE:

AFTER:

Same truck believe it or not... haha

Those U bolts are loooooooooooooooong. 2nd pic is much much better. Good Job. Making your own brackets is fun, I think. Time consuming, but fun. I feel alot better about making it myself when its finished.

Re: Project ~ stock floored on 22s

shit we have 2" blocks on the cando 6 link on the '86 to lay the 22's. Maybe I should try a 1" block and see if it lays.

I just ordered a 7" single diaphram booster and MC tonight also, It's 3/8" thread ports so I should be able to just hook my stock brake lines right to it.

looks like 3/16 to me, 1/8" is awfully thin shit to make tabs that long out of without tying them together

I'm switching over to boa, don't know if 1" will work for that truck with the lift bars.
