(Project) Stock Floor Body Drop

Well i've been debating on SFBD my truck and now i'm up to it. Ordered 24 ft of 3x3x.25 to do from the firewall back. If i dont cut my floor up any how close will i be to laying rocker? Also what all crossmembers and brackets will i have to hand make? Input is welcome and pics will be up sometime friday afternoon. Also gonna put a 305 motor in my truck.

Re: [Project} SFBD and a V8

you will probably be .5" to an inch away. why bitch out? you are building a frame..how hard is it to raise your floorpans. cuz no matter what you do, you will need to raise your trans tunnel anyways.

Re: [Project} SFBD and a V8

yea i say cut the floor up is easyer than build a whole frame from firewall back. just cut and drop. but with a frame got to make sure its square

Re: [Project} SFBD and a V8

if you are SFBD you are going to have to raise the tunnel because there is not 2" of room under there as it is... whiel your at it drop it down the other 1/2" and remake under the pedals and such.

BTW how much did 24' 3x3x.25 run ya?

Re: [Project} SFBD and a V8

it sounds like youre confused as to whats included in a sfbd. you still have to rework your floorpans, but not enough thats noticable or enough to effect your footroom. and you def have to raise the tranny tunnel, probably 2-3". one thing you dont lose is headroom tho, thats why its called a sfbd.

Re: [Project} SFBD and a V8

no i've read corey's full body drop thread and noticed the foot pans in the cab have to be moved up... but i really dont wanna lay it completely on the rockers. I really dont want to crush em and i wanna make sure my tires are gonna stay under the stock hood.

Re: [Project} SFBD and a V8

if your on 20 you can lay the rocker and keep the wheels under... oh and if you rocker lays with the frame. no rocker is crushed

so does that mean that you're keeping the bed floor at the stock height like I'm doing?

Trying to steal my idea are ya?

Re: [Project} SFBD and a V8

Should be good, but like said above...why stop at 3"? And if you set it flat on the rockers and the frame is even then you don't have to worry about it crushing rocker...unless you have a rocky driveway and crush them that way.

Re: [Project} SFBD and a V8

truck was put in shop... bed was taken off. negative on the pics but tomorrow i plan on taking off the fenders, hood, doors, dash, rad support, grille, and most of the rear suspension.

Some things we talked about was completely boxing in the tube frame for extra air and also less airline to run to keep everything hidden.

Re: [Project} SFBD and a V8

Gots an update for you guys. Today the stuff that came off was the fenders, rad support, hood, everything was unbolted from the firewall, the steering column was removed, clutch pedal was removed, all wiring was pulled inside the cab, and the body was unbolted from the frame. My digital camera's batteries was dead so no pics but i am going back in a bit to take some.
