Re: -[Project]- Orange Sonoma Resurrection
Yeah how did ya do this conversion? Is that a stock s-10 rearend with a blazer disc setup or a blazer rearend? If that is a s-10 rearend, did everything just bolt right up or did you need to modify it?

Re: -[Project]- Orange Sonoma Resurrection
Na its his rear with blazer disks on it. The disc brake swap is easy, I was gonna do a how-to on it but brians rear has a posi so its a little different inside and i just wanted to get it done heh. What ya do is take all the drum bits off so theres nothing left but the backing plate. Then pop the diff cover, remove the 5/16 bolt and the center pin, then push each axle inward to release the c-clip. Remove the c-clip, yank the axles then old back plates, swap over the blazer backing plates, then put it all back together. The only problems are the brake lines. The e-brake wont fit the pedal, and the rubber lines get in the way of the notch. You can make them bend down but this kit didnt allow any room so I modified the banjo connector and made the lines go straight out.

Re: -[Project]- Orange Sonoma Resurrection
Hey i have a question about the disc moved from a blazer. I assume that there the same rims and this maybe a not so smart question. Do the discs change the back spacing for the rim at all?

Re: -[Project]- Orange Sonoma Resurrection
so if you swap over 4wd blazer disc brakes, you just lose backspacing? or you can't swap them over at all?

Re: -[Project]- Orange Sonoma Resurrection
im unsure about the 4wd brakes. i never had any to play with, the discs themselves are def different and cant be used but the backing plates and calipers look the same in pictures..

Re: -[Project]- Orange Sonoma Resurrection
Ok so I got the tranny tunnel done except for final welding and one small piece that Ill do once the cabs off.. Ok the passenger side you can see where its brought out a lot further, thats to clear the exhaust. Also started the driveshaft tunnel and mocking up the steering column. Its a problem with the bodydrop and v8 because the shaft is way too low to clear the headers and has to be moves up on the firewall. If you look closely Ive already cut the firewall out and where the column bolts under the dash, I moved it to on top of those bolts, I think this will be enough but Ill know once I get back into it.
