Wow, Dave truck looks really good man  You have got alot done since the little time I've been gone. I hope you find someone good man who can do as good as work as you do.

A little off topic here but me and Dan met a guy down here with a white 01 tacoma and he's asking ?'s like crazy he ****ing loves Dans truck. He wants to know how you laid out the front with the control arms and the back. He said no one around here wants to touch the front of his truck with wheels tubs and ABS and all that bullshit. He doesn't have a computer but he's got your # so you might expect a phone call about it OI just figured I give ya a heads up. L8tr Bro

Re: [Project] Orange Sonoma Resurrection

yeah i wish i could work for yah heh, that would be soooo sic to get paid to do what i love most.

are you gonna smooth out the outside of the framerails where the stock frame has holes in it? why wouuld you need aftermarket bodymounts? why dont you just cut the stock body mounts off, then cut the needed amount off the bottom of them then place um where you want on the new rails and weld um up? at least thats what i think im gonna do on mine, but im also buliding new sheetmetal floors too though

I need to find a job doing this stuff too. After working on building my frame the last week with my buddy, and realizing I can weld pretty decent, I want to do more!

Re: [Project] Orange Sonoma Resurrection

ya i hear you guys, but none of ya can help me out heh. you have to look at the mounts to realize that its not just a simple cut to make them shorter. and i also have to cut like an inch out of them or something, and theyre only like 2" tall now.

Re: [Project] Orange Sonoma Resurrection

well when i build my new floor im gonna build it low as i can get it to the frame, ill be usin 1x1 under it so it should come right where the stock floor is. so if the floor is at that height then are you saying that i wont be able to cut off the stock body mounts off frrom my origanal frame, cut um down, and make um work?

Re: [Project] Orange Sonoma Resurrection

umm..wtf is that? that just looks like the top piece of the body mount..where the bushing, the inside piece, the lower piece? also it looks like you had to mod the floor where the body mount bolt to the cab..im trying to stay away from doing that because itll just be more work.

Re: [Project] Orange Sonoma Resurrection

I didn't had to modify the floor at all. That is just the upper cup and the nut that is with it welded on to a flat piece of metal.. I just cut down on the body mount on the floor. No modifying of the floor.. It wasn't all that hard, just messed up when doing it. I have never done a b/d before but I think i would prefer this. But this is my 2 cents.. just an idea

Re: [Project] Orange Sonoma Resurrection

ok so you shortened the actual mount under the floor instead of or in addition to cutting the bushing itself down. werd i was thinking about doing that as well but you can buy real short body mounts from energy suspension..that or just cut the stock ones down a lot.

Well...I answered half of my own question; www.energysuspension.com

But it didn't say how tall their body mounts are or how tall the stock ones are so I would still like to know that if anybody can find out. Oh yeah...Stylin Concepts sells all Energy's stuff, so that's where you can get it through. You can by individual stuff or a whole S10 package.

Re: [Project] Orange Sonoma Resurrection

ya didnt look hard enough..

http://www.energysuspension.com/pages/univ1.html

the 'firm' bushings look to be 13/16" tall plus the height of the washer (1/16-1/8), the soft ones are 1-5/32" tall.

guess I didn't look hard enough...

so what size are the STOCK bushings then? And I would have to get these universal 'firm' bushings instead of bushings actually designed for S10s for it to help aide in the drop, right?

Re: [Project] Orange Sonoma Resurrection

The stock body mounts are 1.5" tall, they might compress a little when you tighten them down tho. Heres some more pics, I finished the body mounts on the driverside, plated in the front bed mounts, and finished the frame work on the pass side.

Are the bodymounts 1.5" tall INCLUDING the washer on top? Because the heights for the Energy 'firm' bushings is either 7/8" or 15/16" including the washer. So that would give you either 5/8" or 9/16" drop just from changing out the body mounts. But if your 1.5" measurement DOESN'T include that washer, then you're saving about 11/16", right?

Also...I'm assuming that you're gonna traditionally bodydrop the bed seeing as how it looks like the bed mounts are stock height?

Re: [Project] Orange Sonoma Resurrection

ya the bed will be trad dropped but more than 3" to cover up the notch. the 1.5" height includes the whole mount,t here really isnt any 'washer', just a big cup that the rubber sits in.

Re: [Project] Orange Sonoma Resurrection

Couple pics from tonight..made the tranny crossmember out of 2x2x3/16, not finished yet tho. i made it a bit higher than stock to decrease the output angle from -5° to -2°; this will help the pinion angle out a bit. also slapped in a SD gas tank crossmember for a KP kit and started the notch.

didnt get as much done today as I like because I fµcked my back up good lifting stupid shit like an idiot. hopefully ill have some bodys down there this week to help me get the cab on the frame.
