Re: Project "Miss Stress"

I'm just going to weld a couple outlets on the tank (1 on top & 1 on bottom) and run a clear sight tube. And watch mileage on the highway. The tank I'm running has no place for a sending unit and it wouldn't looks good if I made a place for one. After the cops give me a hard time about the tank I'll probably get a fuel cell. But no time soon.

I made brackets for the compressors today and took off the seat tracks so I can make new mounts for them. I'm going to order a dual pack of Viairs soon. The seat brackets are going to suck to make though, oh well.

Read up alittle more. That is a 20x10 w/3" BS but that stepside bed has been widened (not stock). I'm not sure what backspacing you would need on a stock stepside thought.

Can anyone else reading this help?

Well I'm open to suggestions. The mufflers need to be turned around cause the inlet is pointing back right now, but I'm thinking of running them there with some dumps right behind the license plate. The goal is to quiet them down alittle and keep the resonance and drone out of the cab. Its a 40 series Delta Flow.

What do you guys think?

Did you see the ls swap blazer on here with 2 mufflers inline of each other. It produced a sweet sound.

Re: Project "Miss Stress"

Ya, I remember the blazer, although I cant for the life of me remember the thread. I remember it was white (lol, that helped).

I really dig the idea of dumping them behind the tag because the whole truck has some older school things like the dash and other stuff. So it kinda pulls it back to a muscle car deal. (to me). Such as the muscle cars that just had the tips barely visible.

Re: Project "Miss Stress"

Yeah thats what I was going for. And adding to the sleeper style. Plus it will keep the heat away from the cab, bags and bushings, and battery. Maybe even keep the dust down, maybe not but I hope so. I hate dust on a clean truck.

I hope it turns out good, the sound too. I'm going to make the brackets for the mufflers and tanks next weekend hopefully.

Got my taxes finished and can't wait to get the $ to buy the rest of the parts.

Re: Project "Miss Stress"

1099 FTL ! LOL!

I'm done with taxes, getting back, but it's not for the truck.

I dig the flowmaster 40 series but understand what you mean abotu the droning , that should be a good location, (flowmaster has something on their site that says you need alteas 18 in of pipe behind the outlet for it to cool properly and function correctly but I'm not sure why, Mine used to be dumped at the axle....?) The dump behind the tag is sweet. Rolling dust clouds on start up and revs for sure!

Re: Project "Miss Stress"

Thanks guys, as for the mufflers I'll have the crossmembers done shortly and pics posted of the final resting place. That will take care of the airtank mounts also.

I've had numerous PMs about the tank so I'll post the info for anyone that needs it.

MAS Racing Products
(651)644-6811
My tank is a 14 gal. 10"dia x 42" long for $149

They range from 2 gal for $89
to a 15 gal for $159

The smaller gal. size come in 8" dia. and larger are 10" dia.
They don't have a website that I know of but you can find their ad in Street Rodder magazine.

Re: Project "Miss Stress"

haha i love that tank! I seen a sweet choper tank that had a clear beer bottle frenced on the side of it as a gauge. My buddy at work just did a bike tank and used a piece of clear airline and 2 PTC fitting threaded into some small bungs on the side. Works great for him And adds a nice flare

Also any plans of riding down to autorama this year?

Re: Project "Miss Stress"

Does the 42" fit in the bed well, or could you go larger? My truck has an 18.5 gallon tank and one of the reasons I haven't done anything smaller (Devious tank, a tank like yours), is that I like / need the extra capacity for driving range......

Re: Project "Miss Stress"

Yes I can't wait to drive this thing. Spring is near but I'm not looking forward to bringing the truck out to all the potholes this winter is going to bring. Thats Michigan for ya, and anywhere you get snow. I've got two more basketball games this week then I'm free. I can't wait to have some time to myself in the garage to work on this bitch of a truck. Hence the name, Miss Stress. My girl actually likes the other woman!

Thanks for all the support guys. I also can't wait to go to some shows and meet all of you. Glad to see some new faces posting also. Keep it up.

As far as the gas tank goes you will just have to measure the width you have available, Dawgnutz, and I'm sure you already know you sometimes have to sacrafice for style. The 42" works well but I think you could go to a 45" b
