Re: Project BD stevo's ride
shes home in my garage now. after about one and a half years a bed might be going on it lol. and the interior is out for me to fiberglass this winter. ill probably keep this as my project thread for the interior and bed sheetmetal. going to start tomorrow with taking the old bedfloor out and placing it over my rear frame to start taking dimensions

Re: Project BD stevo's ride
Looks great! I was wondering if someone could clear up a question that has been bothering me for a while....When doing a stock floor body drop....what would be the least thickness of steel that could be used for the frame rails? I read in a 'sport truck' magazine that I have about 1/8 inch 2x3 being used...and that made me wonder if it would be sufficient enough to use....Im putting a v8 on it, and didnt know if the frame rails would need to be thicker than 1/8 inch....sorry to whore your thread....I seen this thread and thought I would probably get a good answer here...thanks for any help

Re: Project BD stevo's ride
i would personally say no less than 3/16 wall for anything, but if your doin a small block, go with 1/4,and no less than 2x3 tubing. you could even do 3x3 under the cab goin into 2x3 for a back half

Re: Project BD stevo's ride
werd 3/3 at least 3/16" wall under the cab and 2/3 3/16 wall is probably plenty for the rear.

Re: Project BD stevo's ride
Thanks! I had thought about the 3x 1/4'' but it seemed so thick...so maybe I will go with the 3/16 2x3...might be a little easier to work with. Another thing I had been thinking about was attaching the new rails to the front frame clip....its a big difference in wall thickness....so what could I do to give it all the support at the meeting point? I didnt want to just cover it in some sheet metal...I figure alot of pressure would be at the meeting point, and want to give it the best support I can...any Ideas? Thanks again for all the info....Im sorry again to keep whoring your thread, but I will definately be checking back for updates.

Re: Project BD stevo's ride
lol its hella beefy. im a solid 240lb.'s and i got on top of it and it didnt budge. and it was just sitting on the ground. normally the sides would buckle a bit but nothing. so maybe a spot for a stripper pole will go in lol.
