need some help, truck will not start.

ok, i have had my truck down for about two years doing a stock floor body drop. i have only been able to work on it a little at a time. but i started putting it all back together and it doesn't want to start, the fuel pump will not engage and it will not try to turn over.
i have removed the abs, the airbag system, and installed a hydro boost could any of these things cause it. if you have any ideas i would greatly appreciate them.

Re: need some help, truck will not start.

if the fuel pump is not running did you reground the wiring harness for the rear section of the from by the bumper there is two grounds on each side of the stock frame....pretty sure if one or both is disconnected the fuel pump wont run ....

Re: need some help, truck will not start.

the 2 rear grounds are on each side of the tail light harness if i am correct. i have both of them on but i will double check it to be sure and before i gave up last night i tried putting the airbag module back on but it still didn't try to start, i will try to redo that today and see what happens also.

seems like i recall seeing someone on here say the abs system would keep your truck from starting, did you do anything to the abs but pull it out and install a prop valve redd?

Re: need some help, truck will not start.

99 s10.. base modle. no power windows, no tilt, blah blah blah....

Hell of the air bag sensors on the front core support I pulled most of the wires out and just cut them and wraped them with electrical tape..

Heres a question. When you try and start it dose the security light flash? or stay on. I know the factory has some build in anti theft deal, forgot what its called. But when I replaced my tumbler and got new keys made I had to 'relearn the key' before it would start.

Re: need some help, truck will not start.

all my airbag and abs stuff is out of my truck and it runs just fine. It's a 2000. I would check all your grounds on the main harness.

Re: need some help, truck will not start.

sorry to hijack, but what did everyone do with the box under the middle of the seats/console? the wiring for it runs underneath the driver side carpet under a black channel? and does everyone just unplug their airbags, specifically the steering wheel?

Re: need some help, truck will not start.

like they said.. check the grounds. sounds like a grounding issue

nothing you've installed/ removed will hinder it starting, just throw codes which is not a problem ( as far as starting)

you may have the grounds in the back of the frame rail, but make sure it is plugged together.. there is a plug by the gas tank location that you can disconnect the rear harness..

That's the actual SIR (air bag) module right there and will run you about tree fiddy from the stealership if you needed one. The truck will run fine without it but if you crash into a pole your head will explode quicker than the "I like this girl" thread by JBaker.

Re: need some help, truck will not start.

update on the issue, i need a new shifter cable. i have it in park now and it will crank, but the fuel pump still will not kick on. i i checked the 4 relays under the hood, the grounds, tried another fuel pump i had for a 2001 blazer and still no luck. a guy at work said that it could be an inertia switch but i don't even know if an s10 has one or where it would be. but i am a little closer cause it will crank. thanks again for all the help, any more info would be greatly appreciated.

Re: need some help, truck will not start.

There is no such thing as an intertia switch on any GM vehicle. It was used by Ford because they wanted to wire their fuel pumps like any other system. GM instead flipped the circuit around so in case of an accident, the fuel pump wouldnt ground and keep the pump running.
