Re: My project s-10

well i know i have been saying i was going to go to carlisle this year but it doesn't look like that is going to happen now. the bill fairies left a couple of very nice surprises in the mail box this month and i don't have enough cash to pay the bill plus go to the show. also this is the last year that my parents are going to live in corning an my dad and i always go to the race up at the track. so i feel that it is more important to spend time with him then go to a show that should be there every year. it suck big ass because i would have loved to taken the truck out and show it, and also to meet everyone that i have talk to on here face to face.

sorry about not going but i have to do what i have to do, but don't worry i will still be working on the truck and posting pictures of my progress.

sorry again guys but there is always next year

Re: My project s-10

well guys and ladies i got a little bit of an update for you all. finally got both the upper and lower arms pretty much all built. just have to add some things and smooth out all the joints, but they hold the rear support housing in place beautifully. plus i get a nice amount of negative clamber when it is layed out.

started with

welded up

in place

The back area for the fuel cell plays a mind trick on you. It looks to be crooked, but the truck is on the trailer crooked.... Great build man. Can't wait to see it finished!

Edit: is the rear end off centered like a factory s10, or did you fix that? Because thats what I think is throwing me off.

Re: My project s-10

man i dont think i have ever seen anyone work as fast as you do. and everyting is so precise and perfect, nice work man.

also,
are you planing on running anything to the back of the rear spindles or will the control arms keep the wheel from toeing in and out?

thanks man not sure about the fast part, but i try to make thing as precise and perfect as i can. make the overall look better i think.

as of right now i'm not planning on putting anything to the rear of the spindles. as it is with just the arm hooked up i can not move the rim side to side even a little. so i think that i should be ok with just the arms hold the rear spindle.

Re: My project s-10

yeah that makes sense,
i was just wandering because i think so far you are the only one that didnt have to run a bar for them, and that your design is even better than this guys, because you used more mounting surface on the spindles: http://www.streetsourcemag.com/Profi...rofileID=20273

yeah i use his set-up as a base for my design. i just try to make it better in my own way. plus i did a little cutting on the spindle to make the arms work the way i wanted them to, which he don't do. i think he just keep the same lower arms (but section it) and made a little bracket on top and went from there.

yeah i will probable cut it off. i'm just trying to get up the balls to do it. i'm just a little worried that it maybe a bigger part of the structure of the spindle than i think it is. i don't want to cut to much off and have it break, then have to buy new ones an start over. stupid piece is not cheap!!

no your right. there is more of a space on the passenger side vs. the drive side. that was done because of the shape of the vette rear-end. it suck but that was the only really way i could get the tubing around the rear-end. i really don't like the way that part look so i'm trying to thing of a way to make it look better.

Re: My project s-10

well i finally got a little more work done on the truck. started to make all the bag part for the rear suspension. it is a little slow going at the moment because i' still waiting for a couple pats to come in, but i did get my lever arms and rod ends so i got started at least.

i had silver start customs cut the lever arms for me. now to me you would think that a well know custom shop like this would know how to use there tool but i guess not. it is very hard for me to believe that the person that cut my part was not really sure how to run the tool(laser CNC i think), because not one part is what i would call a quality part. every edge that was cut is not perpendicular to the other edge. meaning that i have to machine everything instead of the part being ready to be powder coat and chromed. i will know better next time. if you wanted something done right do it yourself i guess:ra nt:

here the arms

and the arms in place and mounted
