Help

OK okl.. so i was reading up on all the body drops and i guess i skipped a step.. SHIT..... I was reading about a 1/4 inch spacer that goes in the back under the frame when body dropping..

I Kinda understand.. but I have already cut my cab and lowered it.. have i messed up or no..

When i get it back up and running and ready to play.. When i drop it all the way will the rear of my cab smack the ground first and get dented..

If true can some one please post a picture and if true can i just jack the frame upa tad and slide the spacer in ?

sorry no build pics thread.. ill post that later
BEFORE...

this is wheat im confused about

"did you compensate for the fact that the front part of the frame lays 1/4 inch lower than the rear of the cab? If you notice near where the transmission mounts to the frame, the front frame clip overlaps the rear rails there, thus making a difference in the body drop...

I welded a 1/4 inch spacer onto the bottom of the frame at the rear where I tacked up my support bars. If you do not do this, your body drop will be uneven for the bed.

mark the rear wall for 2 inch cut and overlap the top over the bottom... welding that back wall together is going to be easier if you overlap the top cut over the lower part of the cab wall... I wish I would have done that, welding the top and bottom together flush sucks"

Re: Help

just jack the back of the cab up, cut the rear bar off, weld a 1/4" piece of metal where the bar will go, and weld the bar back onto the 1/4" piece.....and leave that 1/4" piece on the truck when you are finished.....sounds like a lot of work, but it will be worth it in the end.....

did you check how your bed lines up? without that 1/4" it should line up at an angle...

anyone feel free to correct me if this is wrong...

Re: Help

Nahh my wire feed on the welder broke so i have been waiting for the part to come in.. it stopped workin while i lowered the frame horns... so i have not checked it... the bars are not welded to the frame i can just slip it under but that will make the body sit even lower than the frame correct ? If i raise the rear ofthe frame and drop the cab back down to lower 1/4 inch more, Meaning the frame will wit 1/4 higher ?????

Re: Help

because of the way the frame was made, the frame is actually 1/4" higher towards the back of the cab.....therefore if you bodydrop the truck with out the 1/4" piece, you are actually dropping the front 2 3/4" and only dropping the back 2 1/2".......because of this the truck would sit uneven like this:

yes the cab will sit 1/4" lower in the back, but it will be even.....and it will not hit because you are going to leave the 1/4" filler pieces on the truck......
