Re: building a sfbd rolling chassis for the girls 1st gen dime

nothing new tonight got some mockup tires for it. laid it on 205/75/15
then put the tie rods back on thats why its not laid inthe pic.
ordered some parts from kp and sd
got lower tub shock mounts
the tabs pre cut to fit my raised gas tank member
upper circle plates for the back bags so i can gusset them better and add strength. new front lower frame mounts for the lower four link bars.. to make it look better and suck it up closer to the frame a little more. i think it will look way better and give it more clearance this way since i can fit 2 fingers between the bushing and frame so i bought this mount for them

Re: building a sfbd rolling chassis for the girls 1st gen dime

so ive got a couple questions for the first gen guys
if i just lay 2x3 in the rail and leave stock part of the frame under it will i have to cut up the floor a shit load if i only go to 3" what about 3.5"
and how much of a diff do you think it will make if i make the 2x3 lay on the floor and take out the whole section of the stock frame.. i mean the front part of the frame if i lay the 2x3 in it makes it a lot higher since up there it has two sections over lapped onto eachother on the bottom. makeing the 2x3 prolly 3/8-1/2 of inch higher than if it was just laying on the ground..
does any of that make sense?

those were stands. this frame was built by kp and used at shows it was a full rolling chassis working pumps switch box and guages.
you can see the tube that goes to the pod with the guages and switch box at the front
my friend bought it like it is from clint. sold the wheels stripped the parts for his girls dime i bought the frame and spindles and hubs.

Re: building a sfbd rolling chassis for the girls 1st gen dime

front frame horns are always one of the last things i drop after the cab is on the ground. That way you can line the front clip up with the cab.

you'll probably wind up cutting those back off and raising or lowering them to make sure everything lines up. I know every truck is different, some guys wind up having the drop the horns upto 1/2" more than they dropped the cab.

i have to cut one of my horns off because it's like 1/4" too high and my front clip is a little bit crooked.

Re: building a sfbd rolling chassis for the girls 1st gen dime

weird. never heard of that problem. before.
if so ill just move the actual mount and not the whole horns if its just that little bit of tweaking.

Re: building a sfbd rolling chassis for the girls 1st gen dime

yea i realized that too. both of mine that are body dropped, i dropped the frame horns the same as the cabs nd they wound up not bein the same on one of em the front is higher on one side by about 1/2 inch nd on my ext. cab it needed to be dropped a good bit more in the front so that it matches with the cab

Re: building a sfbd rolling chassis for the girls 1st gen dime

after some measuring with the s10 i have come to the conclusion that im gonna have to cut the floor no matter what since the area that is by the front cab mount is so small to begin with i dont really gain that much room fromt he 2x3.. so im just gonna go 3.5

Re: building a sfbd rolling chassis for the girls 1st gen dime

oh ok, ive seen that silver fullsize on craigslist. Ive seen it rollin around when it was flat black by the shell station at the end of paradise lake road. You were 2 cars behind me and i was in my accord. I was like WTF!? WTF!? I dont see to many bagged rides rollin around anymore so when i do i freak out.

Here is my truck, its an old pic. More has been done lately.

Re: building a sfbd rolling chassis for the girls 1st gen dime

thanks bro
got some parts from sd in a minute ago
hopefully with these parts i can get teh instant center to be right!!! its ****ing horrible right now.. my upper bars are painting down to the back of the truck and my lowers are pointing down to the front of the truck lol. im gonna put these tabs in the gas tank crossmember that will bring those mounts down a little then shorten the lowers like 4 or so inches and suck them up against the frame.

Re: building a sfbd rolling chassis for the girls 1st gen dime

thanks alot

i found a guy on cl that was a parting out a full s10 rcsb.. wanting to keep on ly the frame and susp for his 49 merc. he said if i come and pull the cab and front clip hell give it to me for 100 bucks with the title..
its 82 s10 so it has the flat dash and almost no wiring as it was a carbed motor.. so im just gonna build a whole new truck then sell bres s10.. gonna go with a 4.3 carbed vortech or a sbc i dont know yet.. 700r4 for sure.. then maybe some billet dash faces with all auto meter gauges..
gonna go strip it tomm and if it goes well bring the cab home and start makin it look like a truck..
i have a mint compl. bed with gate a picked up a while ago for 100 bucks.. so hopefully by next weekend she will look like a truck... lol
