Re: bodydroppin the sonoma

they look good make sure you get some that allows the crank case pressure to be released or ask someone at a machine shop about a pressure valve that goes to the block but most of them are older blocks. But your motor looks like a newer still motor.

Re: bodydroppin the sonoma

yeah the valve covers you are showing that you like are for an older motor that has a valve at the back of the block that will allow the release of the crank case pressure. Your motor has the pcv valve located on the top of the valve covers which are the chrome round things on it so if you decide to change out your valve covers make sure they have hole in them for those to go in, billet specialist make some nice custom ones so they dont look so bad.

Re: bodydroppin the sonoma

the bag mounts work...everything just needs to be prettied up a bit and figure out where to put my shocks... it gets rediculous lift

heres and idea of the lift it gets.....front tubulars are hitting the frame and rear is maxed....

Re: bodydroppin the sonoma

hey man truck is looking good so far. This is Jared. I'm jason's (sskjason) older brother. He probably told you this already, but that converter that came w/ that motor/trans is too low of a stall. You'll want to get around a 2000-2200 stall converter for that motor. Oh, and make sure you change that oil and squirt some wd-40 down the cylinders before cranking it over. been sitting for a while.

I don't know if he gave you all the specs on it or not. I built it for him so i'll see what i can remember.

engine was out of an 84' Z28 camaro:

stock pistons(8.5:1cr), rods, crank

block was re-honed, cleaned

new federal Mogule rings and clevite 77 bearings(cam, main, and rods)

heads were redone w/ new seals, valves laped, runners cleaned up and smoothed out, bowl blended. new comp cam springs /dampers

Edelbrock Performer RPM intake, 600cfm Performer carb

Cam is the Comp Cams Magnum 270H grind

the motor ran good and sounded awesome. I would suggest maybe getting a set of decent heads later on to take advantage of that cam. The CR is low enough for some boost too Just keep it to about 6psi

i was working on welding up the cab today and got a crazy plan...im tired of dealing with welding old shitty sheetmetal for the traditional BD sooo im trashin the cab and stockflooring the current frame..im going to look a mint cab a guy my friend knows was using for a drag truck and gave up on....

progress= backwards a little bit but 100% worth it IMO.
