Re: Body droppin 2 dimes at the same time
Little bit of an update guys. Of course from the pics you can see we got pats bed on yesterday and today we got a lot of the small details covered including hooking up his train horns. Then we took it for a test drive, and I must say it was awesome. I got the rest of my floor welded up and the rear wall of my cab, that took pretty much the whole evening, between doing it and gettin his truck ready for the drive. So monday we are going to try to get most of the firewall knocked out and maybe start working on my clutch master cylinder.

Re: Body droppin 2 dimes at the same time
I went over today and worked for a couple of hours, while I was there we got almost my whole firewall welded up except for where the firewall tubs are going. I am getting some tubs tomorrow so hopefully thursday we will get the firewall pretty close to being finished. We also got my gas and break pedal about where they need to be and I have figured out what I am going to do with my clutch. After I get the tubs welded in on Thur. I am going to try to get the master cylinder recessed and the clutch pedal modified and about how I want it and then start the wiring mess.

Re: Body droppin 2 dimes at the same time
Went over this morning for a few hours to work and another one of our friends thats in our club came over so we had an extra hand. We got the firewall tubs almost fully welded in. I also fooled around with the clutch for awhile and had to do quite a bit to it just to get the mount for the pedal to clear the tubs. I got the hole cut for the master cylinder to be recessed, it is tacked in and just needs one more test run since I messed around with the pedal mount before I trim it and fully weld it up. Progress is going to be pretty slow for a while because we are probably only gonna be able to work about 1 time a week or so on it. I was running late for work so I forgot to take pics of todays progress but I do have one pic of it after we moved to 2x4s out from under the truck to do some test fitting of the wheel tubs and clutch master I snapped with my cell phone. The next day I go to work on it I plan on finishing up welding in the tubs and the firewall around the tubs, also hopefully get the clutch buttoned up. I am trying to figure out what I am going to do with my bed so any input would be good. I did have a checkmate flush tonneau cover on it but I decided I dont wanna run a cover anymore. I believe I can fit my tank under the bed at the back with the compressor beside it and I am probably going to put the battery under the bed at the front of it all this will be under a sheetmetal bed floor and sides with a popup gas cap at the front. Any ideas or whatever would be great.

Re: Body droppin 2 dimes at the same time
Well I came home last night and stayed today so I started working on my dash. I already had all my vent holes and defrost holes shaved out but I have to body work em. We got them smoothed out and the bondo pretty slick on em. Hopefully next time I come home we are gonna prime it and get it ready for some basecoat clearcoat action. I also started reworking my dash bezel, I cut the are where the light switch went and moved it a bit and its gonna be fiberglassed in smooth.

Re: Body droppin 2 dimes at the same time
I went out and worked today but Patrick wasn't there so I didn't have any help and I didn't get too much done because my truck was fighting back pretty hard, I am not gonna lie it pretty much owned me today. I burnt my hand through my glove and then a cutoff wheel flew apart and hit me right between the eyes, thank God I was wearing a mask so it diverted it to the wall instead of into my skull. haha But I got some more of the firewall welded up and I got the clutch master cylinder welded in and mostly grinded back down. I also got my air conditioner compressor removed and the power steering box put back in, I am going to go out and work again maybe saturday if patrick comes down and then we should get the firewall fully welded back up and maybe start on the bed. ![]() ![]() |

Re: Body droppin 2 dimes at the same time
I went out and got a little done today, and for the first time in a while I have some Pics of some progress. I got the firewall finished except welding around the wheeltubs where they are just tacked in some places, I was going to finish that today but I ran out of welding wire. I also set the front end back on so I could see how it looks and I have to say I think it looks really good. I still need to trim up my hood supports to clear the motor but everything else fits pretty well considering I just had about 6 bolts holding the entire front end together, which explains some of the gaps and lines being way off. Hopefully I am going to go out one day next week and finish welding what needs welded and get the wiring almost finished. Enough talk, here are some pics.

Re: Body droppin 2 dimes at the same time
Well I made it back from vegas thursday, I went out to work on my truck for about 3 hours on friday. I got the everything on the firewall fully welded, except the hole where the heater box went to the heater core. There is one place I think i am going to cut out and redo on my firewall because it is a little close the bolts the hold the tranny and motor together. I started trying to figure out what I am going to do with my bed and have a general idea, But I want some opinions from you guys. The wheel tubs in the bed are pretty big but I kinda like it, I just have one cut right now but I am thinking about putting them even with the bed rails and flushing it all together and then having the sides come down at an angle to the bed floor which will be raised to clear my tank and stuff. Here is a pic of how the bed wheel tub looks just sittin in place.

Re: Body droppin 2 dimes at the same time
I went out and worked today, I didn't get to work as long as I wanted to because I got called into work. But I got the front 2 bolts of the bed in and lined up pretty good, I still have to make the mounts and brackets for the rear because the tank and stuff is going to be there. I got the hole in the firewall where the heater was welded up, I also got the other wheel tub cut to fit and I think it looks alright but maybe a little big, I am gonna look at it a few more days before I decide if I am going to weld it in like that or not. I think it will look much better once I get the floor and sides in because the floor is going to be about 7 inches higher than it is now. And I also got a yellow top while I was at work today, let me know what you guys think.

Re: Body droppin 2 dimes at the same time
Today we got quite a bit done, I welded the gussets in on the side of the left frame horn because I had not done that yet. We also got the inside of the firewall finished up except seam sealing and undercoating it. The outside is about ready for body work, I have a few more small holes I am going to weld up and a few places I need to reweld after I ground it all down. I figured out where everything is going to go in the bed and I am hopefully getting my square tubing on tuesday and I will get to start puttin it in on wed. We also got the radiator mounted to the core support, instead of recessing the whole thing like I was orginally gonna do we just cut and moved the mounts on the bottom in and slid the bottom of it in to clear the frame horns.
Here are a few pics, crappy cell phone pics but ohh well Firewall ground down ![]() ![]() The radiator on the core support ![]() And this air filter I think my look alright on my truck, I'm still not sure about it but for 7 bucks brand new I can sell it if I don't like the way it looks. ![]() |
