Body droppin 2 dimes at the same time
Well the time has finally come for my truck to finally be layin rocker so me and one of my friends started the body drops on our trucks today in his garage. Mine is a 95 ext cab and his is a 98 standard cab. We got the dashes out of both of them and all the interior stripped today in just about 5 hours. All that we didnt get was the heating ducts taken out, but hopefully we will get those out tomorrow. Neither of us have ever done a body drop before so its probably going to be kinda slow but they will be finished by spring by the grace of God. I forgot to get a camera to take with me so here are a couple of pics i took with my phone. I will have more pics tomorrow of some more progress and the other truck as well.

We didn't get to work that much today because i had to come home to go fight my taillight ticket in court, but we did get the hoods, fenders, bumpers, grills and all that off. We also got my heater core and everything to do with the heat out and most of his all but the heater core. I still have to take out my pedals and figure out something with the wiring and take out the core support and everything to do with it, then we are going to start relocating everything on his truck because he still had inner fenders until today. We still didn't get a digital camera yet but i took a few more pics on my phone.     |

i had a heater core any way man after u left i went out and finished both inner fenders got the heater core out and got rid of my air filter and all that good stuff bout all i have left to do is the pedals, core support and stuff. Im about rite on track with ya for now man

Patrick (laydout98) got a digital camera from somebody and took some pics after i left. He also got his heater core out and the rest of the front fender and inner fenders out and a few other things

We worked for around 3 hours today and we got both core supports out, both sets of pedals, I got my clutch matser cylinder out, I dont think he got his out yet, and we started messing with the wiring which sucks and is time consuming because I am labeling a lot of the plugs I am taking out so i know where they go back when it is time to put everything back together. We are not going to do anything to them again until monday but on monday hopefully we will get the wiring closer to being finished and maybe get everything marked for cutting. Here are a few pics of the progress from today.

Tonight sucked as far as progress, I got the rest of my wiring out which took longer then I expected but I would rather take my time and do it right and not screw any of that up. We had to go to wal*mart and tractor supply to get a few things and then we spent the rest of the time getting patrick's truck marked for cutting, I didn't take any pics but I will have some tomorrow for some of you more experienced guys to look at to make sure it looks good.

Well yesterday was probably the worst day I have ever had, I woke up at like 2 A.M. on tuesday puking my guts out until about 5 or 6 yesterday evening so no work at all on the trucks unless patrick did something but I haven't even talked to him. I am home right now in Richlands but I am hopefully going back to bristol tonight. I prob wont work on the trucks again until either friday or next monday. I still feel pretty crappy and tomorrow I have to do some stuff for class in the evening so hopefully everything will be ready to start cutting someday next week.

you are off to a good start man, a friendly suggeston tho i would clean the areas to bare steel BF you cut them out. Its way easier than after its done.

The marks look really good to me, definitely make sure you take it down to bare metal before you cut it! Good work so far dude!

the firewall can be done like that u will just have to build more fillers, i dont know how to describe what im trying to say but at the tranny hump on both sides can be brought to sorta a point to make it meet better for less filling look thro some of the bd threads for pics i have seen pics of what i am talking about or if someone knows what i am talkin about u can post pics

I like to put the marks down lower myself, right over the seam where the firewall and floor meet. You see alot less of the fillers when you look at the firewall, you do not have to cut that much out probably, i am not sure how much of a BD you are doing but just keep in mind that your cab is only going to drop that much. Keep at its fun stuff! I am BD an S-10 right not its here in the BD forum check it out i update it every few days.

Thanks for all the help guys, we are doin a 3.5 inch bd. When we marked it we tried to make sure that the marks were 3.5 Vertical inches so it would line up as close as possible without making too many fillers. Keep an eye out for some cutting action maybe on monday.

I worked a little bit more tonight on my brakin system... i went and got a booster, master cylinder and proportainal valve out of like a 90 model s10..i have talked to a couple ppl and they said that i could take my master off my 98 booster and put it on the 90 model booster and as long as i hooked the prop. valve up rite it would work.. So i fixed all that today but does any one on here know if any one else has done this..or know for sure that it will work?????

the booster mounts are pretty universal.... you shouldn't have any issues.

well Rj had to work again tonite at his new job but he is coming down tomorrow so hopefully we can cut this POS haha. i have it jacked up and level...i know most ppl uses 2x2 tubing for bracing but i went with the body drop checklist in Minitruckin this month and just used wood haha. it says use 2x4's but i used 2x8's and it seems braced good.. has any one orderd those tubs from suicide doors>???? They seem just a little big to me ...any opinions???? ( im only tubbing for an 18...215/35/18)

Alright guys, sorry so long since a real update, this week has been crazy between being sick, school, and starting a new job the trucks have had to wait a little. But as soon as patrick gets out of class at 2, I am heading over with a sawzall to start some cutting. So wish us luck and hopefully we will have some pics later tonight.
