Re: body drop wheel help

Sounds like your not getting enough lift to untuck.

Got some specs of your front suspension?

Re: body drop wheel help

well as for specs im not sure what your wanting but i got the kit from chisis tech to lay out on 22's. which is basicly the same as suicide doors. but it raises up pretty high and it has to be all the way up completely to get a full turn. but you drop it just a little then it hits. here is a pic with it laid ouut and the room i have of the fenders.

now i didnt get one with it raised up, but looking at it i have basicly no negative camber at all. the wheel does kinda sit out a bit cause it can get full turn, from frame to frame. but like i said if you drop just a bit you hit the fender.

First off, Chassis Tech and Suicidedoors are NOT the same.

Re: body drop wheel help

ok not the same but they still work "about" the same. i went with chasis tech to get the kit for a grand cause suicide doors quit doing the kits. for s10s layin 22's.

do you think that is why i am not getting that turning deal. if you look in the pics if you can see my neg camber is real minimal.

Re: body drop wheel help

yepp i have upper and lower arms with drop spindles as the kit comes. me and a friend may be thinking the height of the wheel may have something to do with it.

Re: body drop wheel help

You might need taller upper cups. I had almost the same problem when I installed the SD upper and lowers and drop spindles with 18's. I'm running 2600's up front and I had to run almost full lock until I made the upper cups taller. Your setup is designed to lay 22's but your only runnin 16's or 17's I think.

Re: body drop wheel help

we put a 2" tall cup in there it might even be a 2 1/2 and yeah i have 16"s on it right now. im just worried the wheel is offset to far out and when i get my 22"s i should either go with a perfect 0 offset or a little posative offset...

Re: body drop wheel help

zero offset would stick out so far that you wouldnt be able to tuck the wheels...

Re: body drop wheel help

There are a whole sleu of info on what size tire/wheel/offset/back space you need to use.
For the mean time while you're still running the zq8 wheels you should use taller cups or use the stock spindles with cups you already have. That way when you air up, you clear fenders and don't have to ride with your bags at full lock.

Re: body drop wheel help

k ill look into that. i was thinking of maybe a little bit of a posative offset just to sit the wheels in just a bit so they are not so close to the fender as well. you thinkthat is a good idea or should i go negative offset.

Re: body drop wheel help

replied to your pm before i saw the thread here.. ya have any close up pics of your upper control arms? allmost looks like you have them on upside down. Fullly laidout the balljoint plate looks allmost flat there.. but it should be allmost maxing the balljoint out laidout.

Re: body drop wheel help

well i was told to maybe run suicidedoors balljoints, and of course the whole stock spindle, but if i ran a stock spindle then i wouldnt be able to lay out would i.

and 98layinframe is that your truck. and what arms are those. i seen a pic that chasis tech had a baljoint mounted underneath. oh and i measured my zq8 today and i have like a 4.5 back spaceing. so what does that put me at. and what would be a good offset and bs to run 22's. do you by chance have a top shot of this set up. if i could see something like this with a top shot then i might be able to figure things out a little better.

Re: body drop wheel help

No its not my truck, its a buddies im helping him build, and the arms are Suicide Doors arms. As for the balljoint most arms the joint goes on top the spindle, not sure about aim arms though. Also the brand of the balljoint is not really going to help all that much, they all pretty much have the same amount of travel range. Again by looking at the angle your upper plate is sitting... i would really suspect that ya have the arms on up side down. You would have to flip them over, then flip them side to side.

With the 4.5" backspacing that puts you at a 0mm offset If running a larg rim like a 22 id go with something more like a +15mm offset, that willl help pull the rim in away fromthe fender an extra 1/2" to help everything clear when driving crushed and tucking tire. Also a huge help with turning... i trim the fender lips down until there only 1/4" wide.

Not the best pic at all.. but all i could find at the moment. Just for refference... that is the mock up tires for his 22's on a 3" bodydrop.

Re: body drop wheel help

do you think a 20mm offset would be too much or ive even seen a 18 mm offset. im getn ready to disasemble the truck to use a kit to coat the frame. when i go to put it back together i will try this whole upside down deal and see if it does anything. now all i have to do is swap sides of the uppers right.

Re: body drop wheel help

i had the same problem. i have upper and lower arms from fbi with like a 2'' upper cup. it turns out that u have to cut the steering bump thats on the spindal. turn the wheel as far as you can get it and c where it hits. allso i didnt get all of my turn radius back because the stock wheels are too small. tire hits the upper arm. fbi says that that their arms are for 17" or bigger wheel.

Re: body drop wheel help

yeah but see my turning radius aint due to locking out or anything it is hitting the fender from sticking out too far. like the balljoints are maxing out. when my truck lays or hangs in the air it has almost perfect camber. very little negative camber at all. so i have to figure out how to get the extra negative camber for it to clear the wheels when i go to turn.
