Re: Blazer SFBD Progress
Yeah the rear suspension arrived on tuesday and it kicks ass. I have a few geometry issues to work out to get some more lift out of it, so i didnt fully weld anything in yet. I was scrambling to get it mobile for the show.
Thanks to Bob at Beyondsic Customs for the sponsorship. I ended up taking 2nd place in under-construction at the show. I cant wait to get the bugs worked out and get it working 100%. But i need to re-coup for a few days i think, the last week has been mental trying to get the show organized and get my frame rolling as well as helping out other club members get there shit done in time. Re: Blazer SFBD Progress
Yeah quite a few people took cards. My only complaint is that i was running around so much trying to organize the show that i didnt get to hang around much to see peoples reactions and explain things to them.

Re: Blazer SFBD Progress
there will have to be holes cut for the bars to go through to the axle. as for the mounts, when it gets reworked, i would like to make it so i could bolt it through the floor to mounts on the frame instaed of cutting holes for the pivot points, but we'll see.

Re: Blazer SFBD Progress
yeah we didnt judge the show, voting was done by people who entered vehicles and got registration sheets. thats why we decided it would be fair to enter, since we were just counting ballots. if i was gonna cheat, i would have given myself first! haha. but seriously, i didnt even vote at all. too busy trying to put on the show.

Re: Blazer SFBD Progress
It was a great show! Saw lots of people oogle over that frame of yours. Even I had too keep going back to look at it! I dont see anything wrong with placeing 2nd in a car show when you dont even have a full vehicle!
Oh yeah, i want those rims off the back of the frame!! |

Re: Blazer SFBD Progress
i reall like the setup butt i have one question, what size tires are on those stockers and what size tire do you plan on running, i only ask because it looks like your notch is WAY overkill. maybe not tho..

Re: Blazer SFBD Progress
the tires on there are a little bigger overall then a 245/35r20. i will be running 20s or 22s eventually. the notch is a little big, but it doesnt matter anyways. my floor would have to be that high to clear the upper bar tabs.

Re: Blazer SFBD Progress
u tryflin' beotch! no its not.
i am hopefully gonna work on it a bit this weekend. I am gonna change the setup a bit for the rear so the pivot points bolt to brackets on the frame so i dont have to have big ass holes for them..just a few bolt holes. Also, the lift problem will hopefully be solved with slam bags, so as soon as i can find a local buyer for my 2600s i will be ordering some rs62s. after that, i have to get a motor of some sort in there as a mock up atleast and do some exhaust plus fuel and brake lines. Then maybe i'll put the body on! |

Re: Blazer SFBD Progress
the 2600s dont fit with the bags so close together. i am running 2500s in the pics, but the setup was designed with the 62's

Re: Blazer SFBD Progress
it looks to me as if you should cut the bracket going from the frame to the cantilever and take about 2 inchs out of it so the bag is fully collapsed then shorten the bars and you would get more lift

Re: Blazer SFBD Progress
bag is fully collapsed when the truck is aired out. i clamped them down and set it up from there.
if those pivot brackets were any lower, i would have to lower the bag as well, which i can't do. |

Re: Blazer SFBD Progress
ok so this weekend i redid the rear pivot brackets. they are removable with 4 3/8s bolts each that will bolt them through the floor to the brackets on the frame. so now i just have to have the bolt holes in the floor, instead of gaping holes for the brackets. i took more time on these ones, so they are a bit nicer. i still have to plate one side of them for some extra strength, and i have to gusset the mounting plates on the frame. but u get the idea.

Re: Blazer SFBD Progress
plan is too have some thicker rubber pads cut with a hole in them that is only as big as the link bar. i'll cut a bigger hole in the floor, bolt the pads to the floor and run the bars through the hole in the rubber. it wont be air tight, but it should do the trick, and the rubber will allow for a bit of movement in any direction.

Re: Blazer SFBD Progress
welll its supposed to get 10...i'm sitting at around 7 right now. i need to switch to slam rs62s, since that what it was designed to use, which will help a bit. with the front up, the flat sectiion of my frame has about 8" of ground clearance at the minimum which is plenty for me, but i'm not sure how low the back end will sit (behind the rear wheels hangs pretty low) I'm more concerned about bening able to remove a wheel without taking apart link bars etc, but w/e. i might just say screw it and leave it as is once i get the slams. i'll see how it checks out with the body on, but i've got alot of other stuff to worry about, so i dont want to be stuck on this for too long.

Re: Blazer SFBD Progress
May have to rework the design a little bit, but i have an idea that I've seen another guy on the forum use on his canti setup. It was sponsored by suicide doors if that rings any bells... Not sure if i have any pics on my computer or not... I'll check it out and post them up or the link when i find them though.
