Re: Blazer SFBD Progress

yeah there is one in on each side now. gonna add another tomorrow, then box the shiot out of it with 3/16. should be pretty beefy when its done. it doesn't look like much now. we popped these ones in just to keep it from flexing when we added more rear clip basically:

Re: Blazer SFBD Progress

I am going to see if I can get some plate cut tomorrow to box in the joined frame section. It will suck to do it with a grinder. I doubt I will work on it tomorrow though. Time for a day off, and my buddy needs to get another truck finished up. I need to get a transmission this week hopefully, then I can mock get a crossmember fabbed and get a drivetrain mocked up.

Re: Blazer SFBD Progress

My club is hosting a show here in Winnipeg June 25th.
Not sure how the frame will be finished off. I wil probably paint it up, not sure about filling it, but who knows. Still need to get the rear suspension all in place and the body mounts though too. And the driveline stuff.
By the way, the rear suspension should be pretty nuts too, but u guys will have to wait for that one...

I've got nothing to do with it. I'm just sittin', droolin' in anticipation.

And Bob you do live for this stuff. We do lunch daily and we talk of nothing but whatever project you are on, and occasionally some chick that I beat the box off the night before.

Re: Blazer SFBD Progress

i thought you were gonna use 3x3 for the frame? thats 2x3 isnt it? looks good altho i would have cut the rails on an angle so you can get a better weld between the new frame and old frame. that extra steel you put in there should make a difference tho.

Yeah, the place I was buyin from was all out of 3x3, and the other places wanted 48 hours notice, which I couldn't do. I think the 2x3 worked out pretty good, and it will be plenty strong once all the gussets are in place and the crossmembers are in. The spot where they join up is going to get all boxed in with 3/16. the metal is getting cut today. It will be plenty strong

Bob... yeah she will pay the shipping when it gets to her, thats how she gets the discount on the shipping.... if you pay ahead of time then there won't be a deal on the shipping.

make sense?

Here is yesterdays progress. Not much, just got someone to cut all the plates i need to box in the frame, 10 bux well spent for what would have been hell with a cutting wheel.

Hopefully I can get out to shanes and start welding them in today.
