BD and BD related ???s
96 noma sht cab sht bed,
ok, what do most the guys do with the wiper motors on a large BD? how the heck do you get the outter skins off the bed? im not using anything but the skins and a combo, how much bead rolling or reinforcment will be needed for the floor with 16ga and a full cage, im not talking stock here, all new, hand made trans hump and all, everything from the bottom of the back window to the wiper cowl is being rebuilt, and whats the deal with the bed holding me up, ive got my cab on the floor now on its stock rockers and the bed if also, well the bed is like almost an inch higher then the cab, so do i pinch n rol it up under? or cut it off? or just drag it off? lol ill think of more later, thanks guys for any help, |

tru, i was also thinkin about it, you think it would be a good idea to weld in some 3/8 round steel tubing along the bottom to help keep it solid if it drags?
why did you shave it totally? the wiper cowl i mean, i thought of shaving the vents but leave the resess for the wipers, whatcha think? |

Re: BD and BD related ???s
as for the floor you can run hat channel or a frame under the new sheet metal to reinforce it, bead rolling a floor pan will only give it so much strength before it starts to bend, I wouldnt go about cutting the inner structure of a bed side out as it would flex to much, you can run sheet metal down over the existing inner bed sides from the rails down to a frame of some sort.

Re: BD and BD related ???s
well the reason i wont need the stock inners it ill be making a whole new bed, using just the stock outters and combo skin rear with flush tonaue, it will get smooth insides and another floor but i just dont want the added weight of the stock inners in ther also, once i get the bed put together how i want it i will xfoam the whole thing in and backsides of sheet metal and in any pockets that arent used, the same stuff they use for boat balasts or whatever their called, it really lightweight and wont absorb any fluids and dont rot, and i think it will seal the metal also so the metal wont rust either, if not i mayb seal each panel then just grind off enough right by any welds, to put it together,
what hat channel are you talking about for the cab floor? i was thinking of basically double skinning it with some 1/4" round steel tube between like 16 ga on top and 18 ga under neath, and then xfoam inside them again, for sound and insulating purpose, |
