Re: Basic Body Dropping

channeling is were you cut out the flooring directly over the frame only (not the whole floor as one piece) then drop the body mounts and raise tunnel. a body drop is were you cut and raise the whole floor as one piece. a stock floor body drop is where you make the frame shorter in height (usually with square tubing for strength) so that the body can drop down and retain the stock floor height. thats the diffrence of the three in a nut shell.

when we done mine we cut it back an extra inch and angled it this enabled me to keep my door panels, i also have speaker grills on my door

Re: Basic Body Dropping

Here are some pics of my 95 s10 with a 4in bd, it had a 2.2 but i did a engine swap to a 4.3.

In the second picture u can see the clearance problem with the distributor and air cleaner. The cab has to come forward about 2-3 more inches yet.

Re: Basic Body Dropping

i am bodydropping and doing chasisworks backhalf on my 96 standard cab and i have just a few questions i have the truck all on jackstands torn down to frame and the cab...

1.. What is the difference between a tradional and stockfloor bodydrop?

2. and i hear people doing 5...6..7 inch bodydrops? when they do that is that just to get the wheels to tuck more.. because i no u cant go but as much as the pavement will allow right.. so isnt your measurement from cab and ground what you should body drop. .. for example mine is 2.75

Re: Basic Body Dropping

can someone give me specifics.. im 6.2 and wouldnt mind the extra head room?

and a traditional is when u cut out the floor and drop the cab over it Correct?

Re: Basic Body Dropping

Something I just thought about. Since 90% of people lose their A/C, why not relocate the box to the rear of thecab and have it setup to blow through a vent system there? on an excab I could see it happening, maybe through the bed on a single cab. Just a thought, I will have to measure it up with my spare box.

I don't know how much this will help, but it's a thread about dropping the frame horns from a little bit ago.
