blazer cab, s-10 cab, toyota, its all the same, its just cutting out around the floor and cab and welding it back in, its actually ver y simple if your skilled in measuring, cutting and welding, its all basic metal fabrication....

Toyotas firewalls are so much easier. On my buddies truck, we didn't need a patch panel on the firewall, everything lined up so good, we just clamped it and layed a few long ass beads along the whole firewall..its very sweet looking, turned out awesome. I only needed a patch panel on the driv. side of my s10, but the other half, came back together nicely.

Question Re: Basic Body Dropping

i have what is kinda a stupid question about my blazer. its an 83, i took the cab off the truck with about 6 friends and bagged the frame and everything, now im done, i cut the floor out for clearance and everything but i dont want to put it back on yet, i want to bodydrop it so it lays rocker. now my question is how far would i have to bodydrop it to even the body and the frame up. i dont realy wana lose a ton of headroom so i want to cut it just enough so it lays rocker, if its not too much then i may even shave the pinch molding, so if anyone knows the exact measurement of a blazer layin frame and how far the body is off the ground, please leme know. i dont want to put the cab back on just to take it back off, its way too heavy!!!!!!!!!! thanks for anyone who can help!!!! my truck pics are on http://members.cardomain.com/83blazerlayedout. and my aim: laynframeondubz thanks everyone!!!!!!!!!

Re: Basic Body Dropping

its easy to keep your door panels, just cut far enough inside of them and about the pedals, just shotern them

Re: Basic Body Dropping

Yes, when you bodydrop a truck, you dont have to shorten the door panel at all, you do NOT even touch the door frame, when you cut the door sills, make sure to cut enough so when you rebrace the floor, the door panels have enough room to swing in and the speaker/panel wont hit the floor, therefore not closing, but as for shortening the panels, hmm, not gonna need to be done unless you section down the body...

Re: Basic Body Dropping

Sup doods! I'm looking into doing a 3.5" B/D on my piece in about two months, but I need your advice because I'm not exactly sure if this will work.
I was thinking of doing a SFBD with 3x3" box tube. Considering that the stock frame is 4.5" tall, this would already put me ahead by 1.5". Here's what I'm worried about, for the other 2" that I need, would it work if I lowered/cut the body mounts 2" to give me the 3.5" I need to lay rockers? I know I'll have to make a trench in the cab to make way for the tranny and drive shaft.
Thanks for the help guys...

i am getting ready to body drop my blazer and was wondering if anyone could answer my question. I have been told that to lay the body down on the ground i have to go 5" i was wondering if i go that far will i be able to drive it still. We aren't doing a stock floor body drop.

Re: Basic Body Dropping

Actually, after much thought, I decided to go with a conventional BD, this way I won't have mess with the frame's srtucture. The only thing that's kind of bugging me is the interior panels. I'll have to be really careful when modifying them to make them look good after the drop.

Re: Basic Body Dropping

I didn't see any shots of it in your gallery Got_20z. Are you guys saying to make the "step" throughout the entire lenght of the cab instead of just doing it on the section where the doors are?

I see what you're saying, but I got an xcab. I was referring to the panels in the back, and also the panels in front by the firewall.

Forget your head room, it's the leg room you should worry about. SF is good !

In steps 29-35 in the feature at the beginning of this thread, they section as much as they could on the bottom of the blower box to clear the 18s. Could this also be done to the top side of it and moved up to clear 20s?

Re: Basic Body Dropping

hey i have a question for anyone that has done a bodydrop. i am bodydropping my 85 s15 pickup right now. i ran into a problem well one of many problems that i need help with asap. where my steering colom goes through the firewall and connects to the pin right by the bearing is hitting the control arm. i was wondering what anyone else did to fix this or if its something that i did wrong. i did a 4 inch bodydrop. it just seems like the angel is wrong since i moved the cab down 4 inches and dont know how to fix this. thanks a lot.
