Does anyone know what all would have to be modified in the engine bay for a 2 inch body drop? Would the AC blower and intake manifold still need to be cut?

you need at least 2 3/4 to lay rocker. anthing over that your cutting rocker. For a 2 incher you should be able to keep everything pretty much stock. The blower motor housing on the passenger side would have to be sectioned but thats about it. Look at a truckin issue a few months back. There was a red s dime from texas that had a 2 1/2 and he kept everything.

acutally, i would say at least 3.5" to lay rocker.. 2/1/4 will lay pinch welds, not rocker

the new body style s10s don't have pinch moldings and you only need 2 3/4 to lay the bottom of the rocker. This is only if your suspensions lays out. Mine is a 3.5 and i cut an just about an inch off of my rockers

nope. just look at the red s10 featured in truckin a few months back. ektensive bodydropped it 2.5" on 19s and 20s and it lays out. You just have to get your suspension to lay flat out and then take your measurements.

this is eric from k-otic on s10s i only have to do 2 3/4 and i have done plenty of them so unless your trucks are different from the factory compared to the ones im getting maybe your doing 3s and what not .....but when i bag customers trucks they lay out flat on the rails before we body drop unlike some places where they say they body dropped it 4 inches and the rockers arent even cut of their laying just like a 2 3/4 b/d sorry to be all mr know how but im just telling you what iv done cuase people that clame they have anything bigger than a 2 3/4 and rocker is not cut then one of 2 things .....1 their lying 2 frame is not on the ground and their is many reasons frame my not be on the ground heres a few.... 1 they cant figure out how to get the front to lay cause the bag cups are to big.... 2 the steering is hitting the frame.... 3 control arms are binding (upper its the ball joint) and some aftermarketball joints dont piviot like stock the space they have to travel is alittle bit less(te slot inwhich itmoves) lower is the back braket that the lower bolts to need to be cut on the inside cuase the inside of the control arm hits it and not that many people notice that .... or the 4th one ..if control arms are hitting the frame youmust cut more out and to lay 20s you have to cut alot including modify the ball joint not tryin to be mean im just helping some people out thanx once again K-OTIC anymore ????s coments or concerns click to the right yulokndwn@aol.com

I think some people may have just mixed up the 1st gen's and 2nd gen's. It takes 3 1/4" on the 1st gen's to lay rocker, and from what others have said 2 1/2 - 2 3/4" to lay rocker on 2nd gen's.

I'm body dropping my '95 3.5"
In that Minitruckin article, they said you dont have to take the dash out, but for all the more work it is, I think it makes teh job A LOT easier if you take out the dash. And that way you can get to the heater core and everyting to take it all out, and that gives you a lot more room to work too..

And when your cutting the front of the frame, they dont say how far back to cut it, well, we didnt cut it far enough, and the pet**** on the radiator hit the frame, so the radiator wouldnt sit on the supports right. So, make sure leave room for the pet****.

Something else, I forget who it was that has a plate covering his a/c holes. But I dont care if it's a daily driver or a full blown show truck, dude, dont do your sh!t half-assed. Do it right.

I had a piece of dynamat covering the hole from the heater box, You might have been thinking of mine. It was only a temp thing to keep the dirt and crap out.

Yeah, I know, we cut like 1/4" to far foward, first time doin this. It was one of those minor phuck-ups.

hey im in the middle of semi stock flooring my 96 std. cab 5in. i saw semi becaues i used 3x4 box but cuz im going so far i have to cut the floor at the front body mounts so from the seat mounts forward is raised 3 in. and i cant fit my rad. back on because the hose hits the frame rail. any tips on clearing it i cut the rail all the way back to the ps pump. also someone said they teed the lines so the abs module was gone and i was wondering how the braking was now? i was gonna relocate mine to where the air box used to be but i kinda want to remove it. on another project we have a 98 ex. cab with a 3 1/2 in stock floor with 20s going on it and was wonderign why 20s are so hard to untuck? what do you have to modify to lay out as far as a arms and such. anything? because if you dont we stuck them on my 5in std. cab and them untuck by half an in but we didnt check if they lay out cuz they will come out of the fenders? thansk for any help.

2 3/4 if you don't wanna cut rocker. 4.5 will almost put you to the door.

DragnlikeaPimp-we modified the balljoint. we cut the outside perimeter around the balljoint only leaving it by a strand on the outside. we pulled it up so the angle was 10-15 degrees less than it was and rewelded it. When doing this you lose lift. When my truck is all the way up with a 4" bd on an 18 it untucks an inch. The back portion of my control arm is hitting the piece made to the frame right under the upper control arm. If we cut this out we should be able to get another 1-2 inches out of it.

the skiniest 20 you can get is an 8 and most companies only make 8.5. it would be really close. 4 will put you door rougly 3/4-1 inch from the ground.

i am currently about 3/4 of the way done my 5 1/4 bdy drop on my 95 ext cab s-10 and it was a pain in the ass. i had to loose my ac/heat, my wiper motor and also ended up shortening my pedals to get them to function properly. all that is needed to be done now is the notch, 4 link, front core supports, and the juice installed in the back. And oh yea.. body drop the bed.. piece of cake.
later
