Agrid's Bodydrop

so i have started my project today for a body on my 1998 s10. i have started to strip my interior out. i don't have much time to work on this so i will post as often as i can with as many pics as i can as go along with this project. i am new to the mini truckin scene, so i don't have much knowledge so i could use as much help threw this as possible. thanks in advance to all that contributes their know how and advice.

so... these are the pics of the interior before i started to tear it all apart.

and then what i got done today for the hour that i was at the shop.

i do not know what all for sure has to be taken out so i am going to gut the entire cab and fire wall.

Re: Agrid's Bodydrop

Take a look around the Body Droppin' section. Maybe even ask one of the mods to move this there. Good luck with it. When do you expect to be done with it?

Re: Agrid's Bodydrop

Ok now that my tread is in the correct area. here is an update. I haven't gotten the chance to go back out to the shop and get some shit done on this truck. However I will be out there for several hours tomorrow. I'm planing on being out there till I get the interior the rest of the way out. Once this is done I will be online posting the pics. Thank you to those who have answered all my questions along the way thus far, and to those who will contribute their knowledge in the future. Check back tomorrow for those pics.

Re: Agrid's Bodydrop

Keep this updated, and post as many pics as you can. People here will help you out whenever you need it man.

As for the interior, you are going to run into many issues with relocating crap and welding in strange positions, it's best (and easier) in the long run, if you just gut it. I keep every nut and bolt in labeled zip lock bags.

Re: Agrid's Bodydrop

so I took heat to them bolts and I stripped the star out in the center of the bolts and broke 4 t50 star drive sockets. So, I welded 15mm nuts to the top of them and the heat from welding the nuts on got it. I put the ratchet on and they backed right out. I will have more pics posted Monday night, my Wife has the digital camera with her at her mothers for the weekend.

Re: Agrid's Bodydrop

I did the exact same thing on my Jimmy, welded a nut on and they spun right off. I also broke 3 T50's, that's why I buy Craftsman.

Re: Agrid's Bodydrop

yeah I'll tell yo what that shit works better than anything else i've tryed. they all came right out after i welded the nuts to them. you gotta think, when you weld them they get alot of heat too, and that helps more than the nut on it.

Re: Agrid's Bodydrop

ok so i bought some rims the other day got a hell of a deal on them. but the question is will they tuck? and if so will they just cause me problems? they are 20x8.5 with a +15 offset rubber is 245/35/zr20 if anyone can help me out with my dilemma that would be great. and i will have some more pics up tonight. will post pics of the rims also, if that will help at all but i doubt it.

I just hope they get to me in time before i actually do the wrong shit, and then it's too late. I should be starting on my cuts the begining of the week somtime. just a few more loose ends to finish up then it's all about hackin shit up LOL.

Re: Agrid's Bodydrop

OK. Here they are, the updated photo's. we got the everything cut except where the main body mounts are (cause we need to get the square tubeing welded to the bottom of the frame before we make them final cuts to drop it).
the bars will be welded on tomorrow night and I will be back out on sunday or monday to make the final cuts and drop the body. then the fun of making the fillers and welding them in comes. here they are i hope it helps some of you out.

there you go! Let me know what your input is.

Re: Agrid's Bodydrop

are you sure you just didnt have crooked cuts. next time you cut a back wall cut it 1/2 shy of what teh drop is so it overlaps for welding it back together. and clean all teh areas to bare metal before you tape and cut its just easier that way

yeah, im sure the cuts are straight. the whole body just looks like the passenger side layed down alot farther than the drivers did. but, it is level with the frame from side to side. i guess ill just go with it and see how she turns out. thanks for all the help though. and now that you mention it i wish i would have took all the areas around the cuts down to bare metal before i made the cuts. waiting on getting my welder back still so i can get back to it. i hope to have it back by this weekend or the begining of next week.

yeah i can see that is going to be a tight spot. but as i said in the previous message i pulled the cab off with the floor still bolted on and ground everything around my weld area's. thanks for the heads up though, i can only imagine how big of a pain that was for you.
