Traction Bars and ladder bars

I need help decinding what is the best to go for i have seen the traction bars on trucks and i dont like the way they hang down and show underneath the truck and i heard that they make for a rougher ride but work great and i have seen ladder bars and i have heard good things about them and i like how they a kinda hidden up in the frame but i cant find a company that makes ladder bars for my s-10 it is a 2002, 4.3 L , 2WD, extended cab, fleetside xtreme if you could tell me where i might be able to find them ither the traction bars or the ladder bars and you oppion on both it would be greatly appreciated.

http://www.calvertracing.com/

These are what you want. Expensive but worth it. They're better than lakewoods etc..

Re: Traction Bars and ladder bars

nothing beats the caltracs

you can see them but they arent intrusive, work amazing, and you arent going to be dragging them like you think you will

easy to install, alot easier than making the ladder bars work

yea ldder bars are the shit they work and they dont scrape if ya got a 3'' drop in the rear and run 16's with 50 series tries u CANNOT fit traction bars at all they scrape and give lesss then 1/2 clearance!

Re: Traction Bars and ladder bars

I love my Caltracs. I do occasionally scrape on high speed bumps but thats about it. I have a 4 inch drop in the rear so if your extreme isn't dropped you will be fine. Make sure you get the low profile version though.

Re: Traction Bars and ladder bars

if i may just add that it all depends on the type of setup you have in the rear. if you do a 3" drop with 3" leaves, then yes you can run traction bars, or what ever. if you lower the rear with a 3" or 4" block, then noyou can not run a traction device, it will hang way to low.

Re: Traction Bars and ladder bars

I have 3" leaves no clearance probs with lakewoods. Even ran them with 1" blocks for a while and clearance wasnt an issue with 245/50/16's.

I'd rather have the caltracs though. $$ needs to go elsewhere first though.

Re: Traction Bars and ladder bars

Can you use the same caltrack if you decide to get a 2 or 3inch Drop kit or do you have to get a new set of them if you decide to drop your truck

Re: Traction Bars and ladder bars

$325 for caltracs, there are some knockoffs but they arent built anywhere NEAR as well as caltracs are. Well worth the price.

There shouldnt be any problem with dropping after you get caltracs, the length wont change much. the only difference would be the front bushing if you drop with leaves. You have to use a solid bushing that comes with the caltracs. Just ask them to send you BOTH sizes for S10's. They changed the bushing size and the drop leaves might have the smaller size.

Re: Traction Bars and ladder bars

My bushings on my truck were 1.5in I believe. Which is the smaller size and I have a 2001 with Belltech drop leafs.
