Tire size?

I'm looking to see what size tire I will need to get to fit our 16/8 wheels.

We called a guy and he said that we will have to get 315/75R16 but I saw somewhere that those were about 35/12.5's and that's to big. I'm getting ready to put on a 6in suspension lift and 2in body lift. I was thinking of getting tires that are 33/11.5 but he said they would not fit on a 16/8 rim.

Also, is a 295/75R16 the same as a 33/11.5?

Thanks for any help i'm a little confused with all this. Also if anyone can give some suggestions on tires that would be awesome. I'm looking for an aggressive looking tire.

Thanks.

Re: Tire size?

265 70or75 is like a 31x10.5
285 is about a 33x11.5
305 70 is 33x12.5

You will be fine with any of them on a 8 inch rim. And you will still need to trim.

Mine is a Z with 1" body lift, 5" suspension and 285/75R16 on 16x8 firebirds. And I still rub off road, and full lock. 1" spacer up front and 2" out back...

Re: Tire size?

Thanks for the help.

One more thing. What is the difference between a 305/70R16 and a 315/75R16. (these are the two sizes i'm looking into, will both fit on a 16x8 rim???)

I understand the sizes that are like 33x11.5R16 but the ones above just confuse the hell out of me.

Thanks and sorry for the dumb questions.

I was looking into Mickey Thompson Baja claw radial's and Dick Cepek Mud country's. Are these good?

Re: Tire size?

OK thanks for the help man.

I think we are going with the Mickey Thompson Baja MTZ Radial's in 305/70R16. As long as they fit on the 16x8 i'll be happy.

Re: Tire size?

Yeah they will fit fine.

Is your truck a reg 4x4 or ZR2?

Do you drive on the road for the most part? Snow? Mud or trails?

It's a reg. '99 ext. 3 door. For the most part it is going to be mainly on the road but we do get some bad winters here. It's my daily driver right now.
