Re: **New Updated Rim/Tire Fitment For S Trucks**
Hey NorCal STI, i have a bagged X with air-over-leaf in the rear. I am running 17x8 Boyd Blasters all the way around with 245/40R17's. It is set up good and i am happy with this setup, but would like some larger rims. I was thinking of going 18's in the front, 20's in the rear. What width/backspacing wheels would i need and what size tires should i go with?
I was thinking probably an 18x7 up front and a 20x8 in the rear, both with 4.5" backspacing. Was also thinking based on what i have been reading here that 245/40R18's up front and 245/35R20's in the rear. Would this cause a drivability problem? I don't lay frame, but when parked i like to let all the air out of my bags and lay it pretty low. I am basically looking just to put a little more rim in the front wheel well's and tuck them a little more under the fenders in the rear (thus the larger wheels in the rear). What do you think? |

Re: **New Updated Rim/Tire Fitment For S Trucks**
Why would it be okay to run a 19x8 but not an 18x8? Or would an 18x8 be ok as well? I am running 17x8's right now up front, would it be any different with turning radius if i went an inch taller rim?

Re: **New Updated Rim/Tire Fitment For S Trucks**
What about 255/50/19 with a 2/3 drop? I'm running 235/35/19 right now and I think I rub the rubber flap inside the wheel when I'm at full lock, but not 100%.
Running a set of wheels with wheel adapters and I'm looking for some stronger rubber. I'm currently running tires with a max load of 1360 and stock is 1600. Anyone think I have anything to worry about? anyone have a good suggestion for a tire size other then 235/35? looking for something with a little more sidewall and equal or better contact patch. Thanks. |

Re: **New Updated Rim/Tire Fitment For S Trucks**
i got a question, i figured i would ask it here instead of starting a whole new thread. I read the first post with tthe updated specs, but i did not find what was pertaining to my question. Im extremly interested in getting the Cregar Black soft 8 397 series rims that would fit a 245 50 16 tire(i already have two of them with less than 100 miles on them). The rims only come in a 16x7 that has the correct bolt pattern, so my first question is will these tires fit on a 16x7 wheel? My second question is about back spacing. I have an 84 s10 2wd, but the rims come in 4 inch bs or 5 inch bs. Which one would i want for my truck?

Re: **New Updated Rim/Tire Fitment For S Trucks**
What is the best size to get when bagged. 18x? with ?? BS in front. 20x10 with ?? BS in rear. What tire to go with that also (I'm thinking 225/40 front, 275/30 rear).

Re: **New Updated Rim/Tire Fitment For S Trucks**
what kit are you using in rear to get 4 inches?
no 17x8 255 is the widest you can go 17x8 4.5 bs front 245 45 17 and rear 17x9.5 with 5.5 bs or 17x10 5.5 bs 285 40 17 |

Re: **New Updated Rim/Tire Fitment For S Trucks**
trickedcomps the 245 will fit but will have a little buldge on them. in that bs 16x7 4.5 bs would be ideal but 5 inch bs will suck it in 1/2 inch more and 4 would push it out that much more. i would do 5 inch bs front and rear 4 inch bs. front will suck it in a little and know with 17x8 4.5bs its close to edge so 1/2 inch in more is fine. on rear pushin it out to 5 inch bs will make it even with fenderlip. but if you need to get same size rim all around then get 5 inch bs.

ok if on your trck you have 4 leafs in back total take the leaf out above the overload leaf. will ride better and you will get a 1 inch drop. remember to cut off bracket

Re: **New Updated Rim/Tire Fitment For S Trucks**
Hi, I'm running a mild 2/3 (spindle, leaf spring) until I get bagged, just wondering 2 things. First, can I fit an 18x9 wheel and tuck? If so, what backspacing do I need? Then, what is the largest tire that I can run (Talking sidewall, 40, 45, 50) without rubbing. I like the look of a larger tire, and my roads arent great.
Thanks in advance. PS: If I added a 1" block to the rear, making it 4", will I need to shim the driveline on my xcab? |

Re: **New Updated Rim/Tire Fitment For S Trucks**
ok if your bagged and have 9 inch rims in front good luck in turning.
ok for the ideal backspacingif you want to runa 9 inc rim front has to be at 5 inch bs. rear you can have 5.25. id get a 18x8 and 18x9 if you do it cause on a 9 inch rim you should run at least a 255 tire and 255 in front will rub bad |

Re: **New Updated Rim/Tire Fitment For S Trucks**
I'm bagged on a 19x9 in the front with 245/35's, and I have shitty turning radius, I also have no inner fenders.

Re: **New Updated Rim/Tire Fitment For S Trucks**
So then I should prob. just find 18x7 or 18x8 wheels. I'm not stuck on them, just the tire shop here in town has some chrome wheels, 18x9, for $750, and i was wondering if I could get them on.
I'll keep shopping, thanks. BTW, what is the tallest tire I can run on an 18, with the 2/3? |

Re: **New Updated Rim/Tire Fitment For S Trucks**
so what tire size would you recommend with a 2/3 drop with 17x8? what about 16x8. i'd like to get the best set all around so i can rotate the tires.
currently i rub at full lock only with 225/70/15's Last edited by RKs95BlackSS : 10-21-2004 at 03:40 AM. |

Re: **New Updated Rim/Tire Fitment For S Trucks**
I think that there is a little debate on who know what. I still am thinking that every s-truck is not going to be the same. I put 18X8 w/4.5 in back space and 18X9.5 w/6 in backspace front and rear respectivlely. I have read through this and it has been said that with a 245/40 tire on the front won't rub. Well I had a 3/3 static drop and it would rub the sh*t out of the inner fenderwell. Since then I have removed the fender well bagged it and put 255/35 and it lays just fine and doesn't rub at all. Yes I do have to raise it to turn lock to lock but who cares, the back I have to cut out the wells there to and massage the fender lip for it not to hit. That is with a 275/40. I am just putting my constructive opinion to it all. I like the backspacing that I have for the look since looking at my truck from the side it looks like I have 4 18X8's until you look underneath.
But this winter I am building a frame for mine so no more probs. later Last edited by syclnjr : 12-05-2004 at 04:59 PM. |

Re: **New Updated Rim/Tire Fitment For S Trucks**
man i am sorry to post on here... i looked at the chart though and could not find what i was looking for. i have a 99 blazer with a 3/3 drop. i would love to do 20s if they will fit but might go 18s for cost reasons. can you tell me what size tires will work for 18s and 20s without rubbing at all...
