Re: most cost effiective rear disk swap?
from what i understand, you should just be able to swap it out with the blazer rear end...ive been looking into doing this also. curious to see what people who have done it have to say.

Re: most cost effiective rear disk swap?
I tried to find out but had to find out for myself
![]() A 54.5" rear end from a 2wd blazer will work, that is what I have in my s10 now... 3:42, limited slip, disk brakes, swap the whole thing for less than a kit... Hope this helps... |

Re: most cost effiective rear disk swap?
Just had a car in the shop with a set up like that, and we never got rear brakes, took that set up off and throw it away(yes i really throw it in the dumpster) and put a LS1 set up on it and car stops on a dime. |

Re: most cost effiective rear disk swap?
How big are the LS1 rear rotors and will they fit with 15" wheels? Also is there a way to keep the parking brake?

Re: most cost effiective rear disk swap?
the prices i'm seein for the ls1 kit is making me change my mind about the rearend swap, a parts list would be great too, will it affect my rim fitting? i have stock zq8s right now and gonna be getting a set of chromed 17"zq8 style from lmc trucks and don't really feel like blowing the money for new rims/tires come spring time then they don't fit

Re: most cost effiective rear disk swap?
I agree a parts list and maybe where to even go to pick some of the stuff up (off the internet) would be killer. I have been wanting to do this since I am doing an LT1 but haven't had any luck finding a blazer locally with rear disk. And the first kit linked looks good but I wasn't able to find info on the install or anything. I am interested in doing the LS1 rear swap seems a better route then installing a whole new rear end. Thanks man

Re: most cost effiective rear disk swap?
Im working on the parts list, i have it about 50% done.
Also there is a complete set of ebay right now. I know for a fact that brand new GM parts is way more then a used set on ebay or somewere else. |

Re: most cost effiective rear disk swap?
the Camaro brake setup is nice, but if ya want to run a working e-brake cable u need a custom bracket made. So why not just run blazer rear brakes? It too has a 12" rotor just like the ls1 Camaro setup does, only the nice part is everything bolts right up to the S10. All ya need to order a set of rear brake cables from a 4x4 ZR2 s10 that will connect to your stock front cable and then connect right up to the blazer E brake setup.
I paid 100 bucks for my blazer rear brakes, so its not like there a very expensive setup. Last edited by 98layinframe : 01-05-2008 at 06:32 PM. |

Re: most cost effiective rear disk swap?
There not 12" there smaller. The only thing is the blazer brakes are harder to find cheap. Here are a few ebay links I wont pay 250 shipped for the kit. Yes the e-brake is the only down side, but im working a bracket and cables. Wont be long. |

Re: most cost effiective rear disk swap?
How do ya figure? I measured my rear blazer rotors and there exactly 12" in diameter, nearly identical in diameter to my front brakes from the camaro setup. |

Re: most cost effiective rear disk swap?
Well i got the list done. I will be doing a How to: as soon as i get all my parts cleaned and painted. LS1 Rear Brake Part Numbers: Backing plates: 10444625 & 10444626 Rear Calipers: 12455127 & (Right) 12455127 Caliper Abutment: 12456459 (need 2) Flex Hose and Banjo bolt: 22163484 (need 2) Caliper slide pins: 12530697 (need 4) Brakepad hardward kit and pads and rotors. Those are the big parts, but when i do a how to, you will see everystep. |
