HELP! - Brakes Pads!

I had a friend recently help me out by replacing my front brake pads on my 2001 4.3 Xtreme.

But I'm not sure he' installed them correctly:

Does the BRAKE PAD SCRATCH SENSOR FACE THE FRONT OR REAR OF THE TRUCK?

Thanks I'd like to know before I drive my truck anymore!

Re: HELP! - Brakes Pads!

It really doesn't matter, some vehicles have them on the trailing side of the pad, some on the leading side, it will work fine either side.

Re: HELP! - Brakes Pads!

well of course they are installed only one way from new, but the pads fit either way with no issues. The squeal tab clears everything and squeals just fine when worn.

I've tried both ways on many vehicles and it makes no difference.

Re: HELP! - Brakes Pads!

My last set of pads wore at an angle, wearing the from much more than the rear of the pad. The scratch sensor was on the rear, and was completely untouched while the front of the pad was completely worn, leaving the rivits exposed which came in contact with the rotor, destroying a relativly new rotor..... I'm just gonna make sure they are in the front I guess.

Re: HELP! - Brakes Pads!

well if ur shits wearin on an angle that means ur slide pins are hangin up or the caliper isn't sliding on the mount properly so you should fix that lol
