Re: For those that dont understand backspacing and offset

That's not sticking out just a little bit. That's a lot.

You'd need a large positive offset which would translate to very little backspacing. How much? We can't tell you unless you know exactly how much outside the fender you want it to stick.

Re: For those that dont understand backspacing and offset

I got a set of 20" boss 308s from a friend.

Specs are:
20"x 8.5"
+10mm Offset
5 x 115
Backspacing Is 5.106 Inches

I have an 02 Sonoma ZQ8 stock suspension. My question is what thickness or size adapter would i need? I would need the adapter 5x4.75 to 5x115? I only plan on doing a 2/3 drop on the ZQ8 susp. so far. Also, what size tires would you prefer? Thanks.

Re: For those that dont understand backspacing and offset

yeah you would need a 5x 115 - 5x4.75 adapter, be careful and not get a thick one b/c it will push your tire out too far, with 20's you dont have to worry about the tierod with backspacing but it will rub neway around it.

to the guy who wants his wheels to stick out all i can say is run adapters, to have it stick out alot you would need a 9" rim with like 3" or less backspacing, id run adapters that way if you decide to return it to stock or something you can still use those rims

Re: For those that dont understand backspacing and offset

I'm trying to find out the backspacing for this wheel/tire combination. I eMailed the guy to see what it is... Just waiting for his reply

33/14.50/15 tires on 10" wide wheels with a 5 on 5 1/4 jeep pattern

Looks like I'll be needing some adapters (and maybe a lift, but I'll just take off my body panels until then)

Re: For those that dont understand backspacing and offset

Aliright well, I'll do the tires. The wheel I'm looking at is available w a +20, +35, +45 offset......... (clueless) also the center bore is either a 73 for the +35 and 74.1 for the +45 and +20. What do I need? and what is a PCD code? Thanks again for all your help. . If I do go with these wheels would I need a spacer?

Re: For those that dont understand backspacing and offset

I have a 2003 4wd Blazer LS. A guy at my local Les Schwab is telling me that an American Racing Torqlite 15x7 with 4 inch back space and zero offset should work fine with 30/9.5/R15 tires on my rig. I'm scratching my head on this one. Somehow, I just don't think the wheels will work. What do you think?

4" with a 7" rim
4.5" with a 8" rim
4.75" with a 8.5" rim

feel free to add extra rim sizes and widths if you want.

EDIT! I was looking at my original post, and now realized why it is confusing some people, the offset desired will change for the width of the rim. I posted a 0-4mm offest... I should of posted this

7" --- 0 - 4mm
8" --- 4 - 10mm
8.5" --- 5 - 15mm

now these are just approximations, the wheels you chose can vary from these measurements a little and still work.

now having between a 5-15mm offset on a 8.5 inch rim, would that be fine on a 5 inch drop up front? My current rims were 20x8.5 w/ 0 offset and I had no rubbing issues. Im looking into getting 22s and do these numbers pertain to that too?

Re: For those that dont understand backspacing and offset

Boss 335
20x8.5
Offset +25 mm
Backspacing 5.671

I think I have this backspacing nonsense figured out but i wanted to post to double check. I dont think these will work with my truck. i ended up with a 5/6 drop when i added on to my Xtreme suspension. Also I am wondering if the stearing is locked on the zq8's and Xtremes. My truck does not turn as tight as my friends truck who is running a 9.5" wide 20" up front. he rubs but when you put his rims on my truck they dont rub unless the truck is on an incline.
Just figured i would throw that out there.

my next option is the Boss 306's
20x8.5
14mm offset
and 5.25 backspacing.

if none of these will work its back to the drawing board for me!!!

thanks guys

Re: For those that dont understand backspacing and offset

i would go with the boss 306's they are the same size (i think) as the 304's, im running 18's in those, fully bagged, with a 5/16th inch spacer b/c it hits my tie rod (not a problem with 20's), and i turn great!

as far as the 22's, i wouldnt do that with a 5 inch drop in front, unless you like barely turning b/c you will be tucking tire/possibly rim..... the higher then offset the better imo for 8.5's, but i bet those 22's are either 9 or 9.5" wide and you would want a higher offset (key is to keep backspacnig bettween 4.5-6"), but dont go too much or you wont tuck the rim

I def. wouldnt go with 22's way too big for me. i really like the 306's but i just found out this week that they are out of production.

Re: For those that dont understand backspacing and offset

I've got a major problem.. I don't know much about wheels and etc but Here is my problem.

I purchased a set of MHT Luxary rims that are 17 x 7.5 5 lug to fit a 1989 s-10. The guy I bought them from said they would fit the s-10. I put the rims on the front and they sit so far back in the wheel well that they lug stems doesn't come through. The wheel bearing doesn't go through the rim either.

Everything on the 89 s-10 is stock so I have no Idea of what to do to make these rims fit and I don't know if it is even going to look good.

The tires on the rims are 245/45/r17 wheels.............. Any help would be greatly apprecitated.......... Thanks........NUT

Re: For those that dont understand backspacing and offset

so will 35-40mm offset be right with a 1.3inch wide spacer for a 19x8.5 inch wheel. I have a 04 blazer w/ shockwaves in the front and 6 inches in the rear

and what should i look for for a 9.5 inch wide wheel for the rear?

hmmm..... same i think?

I beleive that Kyle told me that he runs 5 inches of backspacing on his blazers.

so will 40mm offset be right with a 1.3inch wide spacer for a 19x8.5 inch wheel.

Thanks Man,
Andrew

yes a 1.3" thick adaptor would be perfect for the front. for the rear your best bet is to run a wheel with right around a 5" - 5 1/4" backspacing to them.

P.S. does your big brake kit (which i love!!) push the wheels out an extra 1/4" due to the rotor thickness?

later
dave

i ended up ordering a 45mm offset for the rear wheels because , so lets see how they fit

I'm planning on bagging my truck and was wondering if i will run into problems with this size rim....17x8 with 5 on 4.5/4.75 bolt pattern with 0mm offset and 4.5 backspace. the tire size i was planning on using is 245/45R17.
