Re: Corvette Rims Thread

Guys, why don't one of you put together a spreadsheet with the types of Corvette wheels, the thickness of spacers needed and the type of truck 2WD/4WD.

Attach a couple of pictures from the examples on this page and this thread should be finished.

As people install newer wheels, the chart could be updated.

Here are my wheels (not installed yet) I'll update the pic after they are installed.

2008 Corvette 8.5" x 18" split spoke with Nitto 420S 255/55 x 18" tires
going on my 2000 4x4 Blazer with 1" adapters on the rear set.

i completely agree, cauuse this thread is kinda useless cause theres soo much bs'ing. ive actually had more people contact me and ask me if the C4's will fit a 1st gen and what size spacers, just from my threads on here, and my build thread.

Do we have one or two volunteers?

Once the information is put together and properly formatted, I'll work with the admin to get this into a sticky.

Re: Corvette Rims Thread

i have a spreadsheed i put together that might help. you put in the wheel size and offset, and it calculates what size spacer you will need on a 2wd. i dont know how to link the spreadsheet on here if someone wants to save it...

EDIT: heres a screenshot...

Re: Corvette Rims Thread

Deos that work with drop spindles though? There is always confusion about those. The sheet that I started just had wheel/spacer combos from what worked with people on here, but if yours will calculate it that beats mine lol

Re: Corvette Rims Thread

sorry, i should have mentioned that...NO, it doesnt take drop spindles into account. its my understanding that they push the wheel out 1/2 inch correct? so, you would need to reduce the size of the spacer by that much if you are using drop spindles...hopefully that makes sense.

real life fitment trumps calculations...it would still be beneficial for people who actually run the wheels to chime in with their specific setups.

Re: Corvette Rims Thread

pm'ed.

I'll play with the formulas to versions for 4WD and drop spindles

I sent George a chart that I have.

If we can consolidate this information to a couple of charts or spreadsheets, we'll all be better off (for 90% of the questions)

There will still be issues with tire profiles, bagged and lifted trucks.

However, this is a good start.

What dimensions were the 97-99 wagon wheels? I might get a full set for $175, which i think is a hell of a deal, and just need to know the dimensions of it to know what spacer to run on my 2wd Xtreme

Re: Corvette Rims Thread

awesome. Im gonna go ahead and buy the rims, cause you cant beat 175 bucks for corvette rims, and then once i get a few more checks ill buy spacers and tires.

So i would need a 2.24" or 1.57" spacer on the back? what size spacer for the 17x8.5 fronts?

Damnit I want to find a set that cheap. I got mine for $300 and the guy scammed me and didn't tell me one of the rims has a crack, so it ended up being $450 for the set after I fixed em up, still pretty cheap for how nice they are and they fit fat tires

Another question besides the size spacers i need, do yalls front wheels stick out farther with the spacers? And do i need spacers on the rear wheels or just the front?

sorry man, the chart is a work in progress. there is no 17x8.5 calculation on there, but im going to guess that they have an offset of +54; the 18x9.5 are probably +56 (though some are manufactured +40). so, for the fronts, you would need roughly a 2-2.25 in spacer. however, as was mentioned, drop spindles push the wheel out 1/2 inch, so if you have installed those already or are planning to, youll need a smaller spacer. for the rear, youre looking at roughly a 2.25 spacer...verify the offset first to make sure you dont have a +40 set though.

youll need them front and rear...its the 4wd's that dont need spacers front or rear. the whole point of the spacer is to get it to fit properly in the wheelwell, not sticking out too far/little.

Oh ok. Ill check the offset once i get them. probably gonna pick them up sunday, wednesday, or saturday. Ill check the thread on how to measure it and try my best to do it right lol.

I was just wondering about making them stick out too far, because my stepdad is my right hand man when it comes to working on our trucks/cars, and he was just concerned that spacers would make the rim sit out way too far from the fender well amd it would look bad. But judging from yalls pics, i think it would look pretty good.

youll be fine, there is no "dish" on the vette rims, so you need something to push them out.

Re: Corvette Rims Thread

Alright ill check it out. Anyone know where to get cheap spacers? im lookin to spend around $600 on this if not less. the rims are $175, so a little over 400 bucks to spend on spacers and tires, and the spacers ive seen have been around 70 bucks for a pair, so after 2 thatd be 140 bucks, leavin a little over 300 for tires and idk if i can buy that with that...might just have to end up spendin a little more.

I would be concerned with "cheap" spacers, since your life basically depends on how well they keep the wheels connected to the truck.

Go for quality, even if you have to wait a little longer to get your wheels.

I just put on a set of wagon wheels, used 2.5 mm spacers all the way around as advised by many on this forum, i have a sonoma 4cyl 2wd, 17 inch in front and 18 inch in the rear, no rubbing or issues at all. Will try to post better photos up when it stops snowing.

My front ones are about flush with the fenders with the 2.25s and drop spindles. If I were to do it again, I would consider 2.25 in the front and 2.5s in the rear. You can kinda tell in the pics form my truck that I posted.

The car is barely out, you're not gonna find the wheels very easy or cheap yet. I don't think there's any aftermarket knock offs of them yet either.

The car is barely out, you're not gonna find the wheels very easy or cheap yet. I don't think there's any aftermarket knock offs of them yet either.
Oh yea i know, i was just thinkin maybe theres someone out there with wayyy too much money and already bought some Zr1 rims for a dime. Maybe im the only one that thinks that would be nasty as hell.

the replicas are around $800 for a set in C5 or C6 sizes/offsets, so thats pretty reasonable. of course, running a real set (19x9.5 up front, 20x12.5 out back) would be sick...got 335/25/20?!?!
