I know what you mean, I bought 2 18x9.5 wagons for $50 bucks on craigslist because I couldn't pass a deal. I thought...2 more won't be hard to find cheap.
2 months later I still only have 2.

Re: Corvette Rims Thread

11 wide in the back is going to be pretty tough I would think. I would think that a 3in spacer would work, best bet though is to measure.

Re: Corvette Rims Thread

Hey Guy's

I'm looking for some advice? I've got access to a set of 95 Corvette wheels and tires, front's are 255/45ZR17 and rear's are 285/40ZR17. I want to install them on my 96 S10 that has been dropped 3" in the front and 4" in the rear. What kind of problem will I encounter besides speedo readings....
Thanks

Re: Corvette Rims Thread

Correct me if i'm wrong, but those were on sale for $69.99. That would be $140 instead of $200. That's where i got mine from. Excuse me, i forgot to add the $20 for 2.25 That's closer to $200

That's the whole problem, I bought the truck lowered and the former owner didn't know anything about how it was lowered. I'm a rookie about lowered vehicles, I just took the measurements as compared to a stock looking truck. Any and all help will be appreciated, I've got to make a decision on the wheels by this weekend!!!!!!

Mines got C5 rims. 17's up front with 4" spacers. 18's out back with 2.5" spacers. I'm using an 2000 explorer rear with disc brakes. The stock 2000 Cprvette tires fit almost perfect but I had to cut a little off the flaes under the edge....Jim

I was lucky. Got stock C5's, 17 fronts and 18 rears for $100 in excellent shape. Good used tires for $125. The 2.5" spacers cost me more than the wheels and tires....lol

I find that very hard to believe. I dont care what mods you have done to an s10, especially with it retaining a stock stance and appearance, with a camper none the less.

Re: Corvette Rims Thread

ZQ8 suspension trucks with better tires handle incredible. The camper adds needed weight to balance out the back. I used to chase a guy I worked with in a Porsche 944 around back road curves on my way to work as well as a guy with a 99 Camaro SS. Both were amazed I could hang with them when they tried to lose me. This was in my 00 Xtreme x cab 4.3 auto with a fiberglass tonneau on the back and Z rated 245/50/16 rubber.

Couldnt agree more.... My stock suspension C4 runs circles around my modified ZQ8 suspension pickup... Dont get me wrong my truck hugs turns like no other truck Ive seen before... but... Bread from the track full independent supsension car / vs. / Hauler mini truck with a solid rear... Its comparing apples to oranges in my eyes. But w/e floats your boat!

Its not a bad idea... My friend buys them all the time for his GTO... You can find some decent tires with 85% + tread life still on them for pretty cheap!

Only problem is, with the 275/40R18 usually the only thing on ebay is corvette OE rear tires-Goodyear F1 EMT's with about half tread. New there around $350 each, so at half tread they think there worth half the money.

I don't agree.

No matter what the size tire... with 1/2 tread life its worth nothing. I remember I tried to barter with a GOODYEAR dealer once to try to pick up a set of MT's... I had 18" 255 toyo PROXES with like 2,000 miles on them. He told me he'd give me $20 a tire............... Brand new they were 250+.... I was insulted. But its true. The second a tire is mounted. Whether it was driven or not. It becomes depreciated!

Re: Corvette Rims Thread

^^ Not always. Discount Tire/America's Tire has some good customer service policies.

I got a bolt through my sidewall last month and had to replace a tire. I was only at half tread so I got my new tire "pro-rated" and they gave me half off a brand new one. Still cost me $60, but I was a lot happier than paying $120 for it.

I'm not sure what their policy is on swapping tires out after half-life though.

Camera phone pic

245/40/18 Front with a 2.25 Adapter
285/35/19 Rear with a 2.5 Adapter

I probably should have got a 45 series for the front tire, but I got a good deal on this size so Ill just run them till they wear down.
