Changing rim size and get same diameter tires to keep speed as accurate as possible
I'm changing to the older style zq8's (16x8) from the stock steelies with deep dishes and rings (14x6). Here is a pic of the rim style:
![]() My question is the stock steel 14x6 rims have 205/70/R14's on them and I would like the speedo to stay as accurate as possible so I don't have to change the little gear in the tranny tail. The zq8 rims are off course 16x8's. So would a 235/50/R16 give me the right diameter tire to work with these rims. BTW, the truck is a 1984 Chevy S-10 Base model RWD. |

205/70/14 is 25.29" tall. 235/50/16 is 25.25" tall. you will be good to go. |
