1/2" so that means that the mounting plate of the corvette rotors are only a 1/4" thick each, or 1/2" each? just to clarify...thanks

the rotors are about the same, the difference comes from the stock rotor being turned down to use as a hub. you need to leave enough meat for it to be strong enough. i used stock blazer hubs and there is no change.

Re: C5 Z06 Vette Brakes

A big thanks to BLACKZQ8stepside for being so informative and helpful in this thread. He has answered questions with a positive attitude over and over again. Thanks!

I'm debating on C5 or C6 Z06 brakes. I've allready bought S10 drop spindles, so it would greatly defeat the purpose of buying blazer spindles. C6 sell for $550 shipped, where as C5 sell for around $230 shipped (just for fronts). Rotors and pads for the C6 are almost double than that of the C5 (Most places that sell rotors/pads on ebay only sell F/R combos, NOT SEPERATE). Wow. I think I just talked myself out of C6's. Maybe I just need to steal a C6 Z06 and use the brakes and motor lol!

This has probably been asked many times, but S10 drop spindles require you to turn the rotors pictured on page 2?

Re: C5 Z06 Vette Brakes

ok so im wondering does the spindle have to actually be modified to run this setup on the stock or 2" drop s10 spindle? i know it said modified spindle above a pic on the second page, but unsure what was actually modified and if it was necessary?

Re: C5 Z06 Vette Brakes

Yes, Either the stock spindles or the Dropped Spindles need to be modified. The modification is removing a portion of the two large ears of the spindle and redrilling/tapping the holes for the new brackets.

Re: C5 Z06 Vette Brakes

you cant just make a bracket to bolt to the existing holes and to the new caliper? that sucks, but still doesnt seem too hard, the only thing is drilling and tapping the cast iron, i have never personally done this, is it any tougher than mild steel?

Re: C5 Z06 Vette Brakes

what do you mean only having 2 5/16" bolts holding your brakes "together", holding the caliper in place?
