Re: C5 Z06 Vette Brakes

And I want to give a big thanks to Bad94 for providing the brackets, Tobin Knighton from Kore3 for the custom SS brake hoses, GeorgesBlazah for the Hawk Brake pads and Dennis Aker for the mock up parts in the early stages of the project

Thanks,...I'm doing all 4 as well, I have an 8.5" Blazer rear end with discs in my basement ready to go in,....

calipers were found on ebay, but there are lots of places that sell them, including Kore3, expect to pay around $100 each

It's not really a kit, you just buy the brackets and all the parts and put them together, most expensive part of the swap is converting to 98+ blazer hubs and spindles

not sure about that, I guess I'll do the back and see how things go. I'll probably do a little more research on the subject, maybe checkout some the Vette forums

it makes it a shitton easier. otherwise you need to turn down the stock rotors and use that as a hub

According to the rotor instructions, the pic without the wheel is wrong, I ended up double checking the instructions, and changed them after the pic was taken, but yeah, I've had a few people tell me the way the instructions show is wrong

Re: C5 Z06 Vette Brakes

Gorgeous!

Along with the brackets for the caliper coversion, doesn't Bad94 also make the hubs that will work with drop spindles? I've tried getting ahold of him and I also tried emailing Ed Miller and I didn't get anything back

Those are the 14" rotors correct?

I could be wrong about this, but I don't think S10 spindles will work with this conversion, keep trying Bad94, he's responded to all my PMs,...and the rotors are 13"

Re: C5 Z06 Vette Brakes

Aha, thank you. I've heard that it will work with 2" drop S10 spindles, and that it won't. I'll try getting in contact with him again. I'll be doing the C5 calipers with 12" discs to fit the ZQ8 wheels.

Re: C5 Z06 Vette Brakes

Which direction should the discs rotate?
It is a popular misconception that the slots or drillings in a disc determine the direction of rotation. In truth, for an internally vented disc, the geometry of the vanes dictates the direction of rotation. There are three vane types in use:

* Straight
* Pillar vane (comprised of many small posts)
* Curved vane

The first two vane types are non-directional, and can be used on either side of the vehicle. The curved vane disc, however, is directional. A curved vane disc must be installed with the vanes running back from the inside to outside diameters in the direction of rotation. Please see figure. Orienting the disc in the manner creates a centrifugal pump. The rotation of the disc causes air to be pumped from the center of the disc, through the vanes, and out through the outside diameter of the disc. This greatly enhances the disc's ability to dissipate heat.

Additionally, all of Brembo's slotted discs are directional as well, regardless of the vane geometry. The discs should be installed such that the end of the slot nearest the outer edge of the disc contacts the pad first. Please see figure.

thats from the brembo site after i saw it i did some reasearch

Glad to see you got ur set up on.

I have done C5 set up on reg s-10 2" spindle and 98 up blazer 2" drop spindle.

Im working on stock spindle C5 set up, and C6 ZO6 set ups.

Also as for rotor, i have been told that the pic with out the wheel is right and the others are wrong.
