Blazer Brakes

I've read that 98+ Blazers have 2 pistion front calipers. Are they direct bolt ons? What do i need to get them to fit? And how much should I pay at a junkyard. Also, what about the rear discs? Can i just bolt em up?
Thanks

Re: Blazer Brakes

For the front brakes you need the spindles and all hardware for the brakets like rotor and hug assembly. IF your currently running drop spindles you will need to purchase some for a 98+ blazer which are about 300 bucks. And ive heard people pick them up from junkyards for cheap and others for a few hundred. Try to find one with low miles so you wont have to worry about the hubs for a while as they are pricey too. The rear should all swap over, i know you have to do a little work on the axle flange on a first gen but it should bolt right up to a second gen

Re: Blazer Brakes

Am I correct in assuming this is for 4WD only? Or do 98+ 2WD Blazers have dual pistons as well?

Re: Blazer Brakes

If you can find the entire setup at a junk-yard, go for it.

To buy the parts individually would be much more expensive.
The Blazer drop spindles will run you ~$300, and the divorced hubs are ~$150(x2). The rest are the standard brake parts prices.

Re: Blazer Brakes

Don't mean to hijack the thread, but do the blazer calipers have the same bolt pattern as the c5 vette callipers?

Re: Blazer Brakes

I installed dual piston front brakes from a 2000 2WD Blazer on my 97 2WD Blazer. Easy direct bolt on. Only piece necessary was a fitting for the brake line:

Re: Blazer Brakes

unless you find a complete deal from a jyard or something, there are other options to consider with much more stopping power for not much more

Re: Blazer Brakes

but there arent any good options for keeping them under stock size rims. thats what led me to the dual pistons. Ive got 15s and plan on keeping them possible forever. And for that brake fitting, to my knowledge you could have used your stock brake lines and not needed that fitting
