So, on my way to work today, one of the brake lines let go on my 1999 GMC Sonoma SLS regular cab stepside. I've been through this a couple of times with my Chevy Silverado, and just took it to the dealership for repair. Money's a little tight right now, and I was hoping to save a little money by finding pre-bent brake lines. The problem is, I can't seem to locate them (I checked for 1999 Chevy S10 as well, but no dice). Can anyone help me out with a website?
get a cheap ass tubing bender (like $2 at harbor freight) and go to town - dont need to put in all the factory bends anyways - get it from A to B without it rubbing or getting pinched/heated up. Any shop you take it to is just going to bend thier own...You can bend it by hand just do little bends and move along - dont try to bend it like your snapping a twig.
I ended up having to take it to a shop to get fixed. I couldn't work on it at my apartment complex, and my dad wasn't going to be able to help due to an unexpected injury. It ended up costing me $444.03(it needed more than 1 line), which is a lot cheaper than it cost me when I took my Silverado to the dealership.
Damn son. Don't be afraid to hit up the junkyard for stuff too. Saves you a ton of money. I feel the apartment parking lot shop. I changed wheel bearings and a brake line in mine years ago. A six pack of beer and a friend to hand you stuff helps a ton.
I realize this post was several years ago but rockauto.com has the pre bent brake line and a lot of other parts that are hard to find and usually they cost less too.
