Water Problem
My freind set some stuff on the floor of my truck and he picked it up a short time later and it was all wet. so we took the floor mat out to find a huge ass wet spot on the carpet. It was soaked.
So we looked closer at the situation and it seams as if the water stayed on the lowest points of the floor and colected there. It was wet from the passenger foot area and then all up along the side where the cab floor meets the door edge. Next we pulled the trim and carpet up and found that the insulation was soaking wet. So we proceded to suck as much up as we could with his shop vac. So the whole thing is. How did my floor get wet? Its only on the lowst part of the floor and only on the passenger side. Also along the edge towards the door. It rained a shit load here a couple days ago. But i still don't understand how the floor got wet. BTW, its a 2002 xtreme. I will get some pics up tomorrow. |

Re: Water Problem
There is a ton of threads on here regarding water leaks....I had the exact same problem on my drivers side and it took me about 40 hours trial and error to find exactly where it was coming in(in my case the cruise control box mounts on the firewall). Since yours in on the passenger side I would first make 100% sure it's not coolant, then check your weather stripping around the door, then the holes in the floor where the clips for that plastic strip at the doors edge go through. Failing that you'll have to pull off the plastic wiper cowl and check that the cowl drains are not plugged and that the seam seal in there is still good.
If your still having trouble pull the carpet back as much as possible and have someone outside spray the truck down while your watch the footwell looking for water running in, then try and trace it up to the source. BTW: The other thing I have heard is your third brake light tlense not sealing properly and water getting in from there and running toward the frotn of the truck. |

Thanks. But its not wet in the back at all. I am thinking its the wiper cowl. I will have to take a look at it tomorrow some more.

Re: Water Problem
I would make sure it's not coming in from the door seal or anything like that first......Even with the plastic cover off the passenger side of the wiper cowl is pretty much enclosed, you may have to remove the fender to get access. Good luck!

Re: Water Problem
Surprised no one has mentioned the infamous leaking heater core as it is right in your dash on the passengers side and would soak your floor and carpet.

Re: Water Problem
Well if the heater core was leaking it would be coolant.....I did mention to ensure that its not coolant in my first response.

Re: Water Problem
Water leaks suck.. I have to do all the ones that come in to my dealership..
First thing I would do is to remove the blower motor to see if there is water in it sence you are getting water in the passenger floor. Then the next best thing to do is to clean up all the water on the floor, then strip off as much of the interior panels as possable. Get inside and have a friend spray down the truck from th outside with a hose, and see if you get any water coming in anywere.. Another way is to try to find water stains.. but that is if water testing with the hose doesnt produce any leaks.. |
