stupid question about tach
I got a tach cluster from another 94 s10. My truck has less miles than the tach cluster has. Is there any way to have the mileage changed back to what my truck has. The truck has 87,000 and the cluster has 107,000. It isn't really a big deal since only I drive the truck and I'm not selling it anytime soon, but I'd like to if its possile.

Re: stupid question about tach
i think ive heard that if you hook the little tab thing that spins in the cable to a drill you can run the drill (forward) until it rolls over and then keep goin until you hit your mileage. Ive never done it or personally seen it done but thats just what i heard. and it has to be on an analog odometer also...

Re: stupid question about tach
oh btw the best way to adjust your mileage take the counter out of the cluster remove the plastic strip at the bottom(must do this or you will break it. you can make another if you do but it takes some time) take a razor blade or small flathead screw driver, wedge it in between the number you want to change and click it over to proper number. then realign your lower pins re-install plastic strip reassemble.
be carefull not to distort the soft plastic on the counters. |

Re: stupid question about tach
Just swap odo wheels. Thats the easiest, then only if you have to change the wheel positions. If you break the alignment strip, you can make a new one with a piece of scotch tape & an x-acto knife. Been there, done it, broke it, had to fix it before I caught hell about it from the wife.
