Search the forum before asking dude. I'm not on here very often, but I know I've already seen a thread about this.

Re: Power rear window in a s10 pickup

Trying not to be too noobish,I should have been more specific, I
was looking for a full window to go up and down not the slider and did find a thread that talked about a syclone having a roll-up one but I couldn't find any on the second gen. Any help would be appriciated.

Re: Power rear window in a s10 pickup

Glad to see I'm not the only one w/ intrest. My intrest is due to, I won't be able to reach my rear window from the drivers seat so having a rear window that isn't power operated will be a waste of time for me. I have seen this done on a full sized ford pick up and would love to have one. I bought my truck from someone who uses this forum and most of you probably have seen a thread on it's build. I forget but will try to find the users name. He built a 98 crewcab and then grafted an extended cab and still utilized the 6' bed

Re: Power rear window in a s10 pickup

There was a company that made power rear window kits for various trucks including S trucks, but they went out of business several years ago.

Breezer maybe? Can't remember if that was the power one or the one that was like plexi and the ends popped out or you could remove the whole thing.

Re: Power rear window in a s10 pickup

I think I would take that over a slider ,but I don't think the ford I remember had all that filler around the window, and I thought it looked like the entire back glass slid straight down into the back of the cab entirely like the full size chevy blazers or suburbans of the 80's. I have a parts truck 85 blazer w/ power rear glass thats where i got the idea. The biggest problem I see is the bottom outside seal. I think it would be better to work like the power sun roofs found in our 2nd gen blazers or envoys where the glass doesn't travel straight so that when the glass returns it will push agaist the seal.

Doesn't the Toyota Forerunner have a lift gate that has this option?

Re: Power rear window in a s10 pickup

all you have to do is get a motor assembly from one of the trucks that has it done now. the new window can have tabs glued onto the bottom of it, attach it to the motor and go from there. have a window strip put in the back and just f with it till it works. i used to install auto glass for yrs its really no that hard

Re: Power rear window in a s10 pickup

I really want to do this! If you come up with some detailed info I'd like to get it. I pretty much have an idea of how to do this. I'm mostly worried about how it would run up into some sort of track. What would you use? Would you have to modify the existing opening on the bottom? Can the stock non slider be used? Thanks in advance to any dig up on this.

Re: Power rear window in a s10 pickup

Early 90s 4runners had electric back glass for the tailgate/back door. Could probably find one at salvage but its going to cost you. Those arent cheap. Ive got a 92 4runner and have been hunting a good, straight tailgate thats not $500 or more for a few years now to replace the one on mine that was smashed before I bought it.

I understand you're gung-ho and all. But we have a for sale section. And it does have a minimum number of posts before you can post in it. It's an attempt to make transactions safer and keep the scammers out.
