Nedd To Get The Gas Out O The Gas Tank

I have a 95 S10 2.2 with the 20 gallon tank.

Whats a good way to get some gas out of this tank? Is there a hose underneath the truck you can disconnect and drain it? What about a siphon? Ive tried siphoning a few years ago on another vehicle but could not get the hose very far into the gas tank. CAn a hose get into this tank?

I need five gallons of gas for my tractor and the trucks tank is full and it will be sitting for the next couple of weeks.

Thanks!

Nope.

The trucks have a check ball/restrictor in the filler tube.

Huh.

If you had to get the gas out of the (full) tank to fix something, how would you do it?

Re: Nedd To Get The Gas Out O The Gas Tank

Ghetto way to do it is disconnect the fuel filter, stick the line coming from the tank into a container of your choice, and jump the fuel pump relay

i would put my fuel pressure guage hose (take guage off)on the shrader valve on the fuel rail and then jump the relay to activate the fuel pump. its so much cleaner and less messier to do it this way.

not familiar with that year 2.2, but it will be on the fuel rail somewhere. it looks like a valve stem in a wheel.

Re: Nedd To Get The Gas Out O The Gas Tank

It's not like the gas in the truck will go bad or evaporate in a few weeks. Why go to more bother than siphoning from the tank when you can just go get some from the tractor?

Here's an idea, sell the truck to someone with some common sense, then use the money to go buy gas for the tractor.

Years ago it was easy to siphon gas and I did it all the time on the farm I worked on instead of driving miles into town.

Re: Nedd To Get The Gas Out O The Gas Tank

I recently overheard someone talking about these things called gas cans that are used for storing gas in order for use it for mowers, tractors, snowblowers, other vehicles etc down the line. Not sure if there's any truth to it but if so it sounds like these 'gas cans' may be right up your alley.

And now it's not easy to siphon gas from the tank. So like I said, if it's a pain in the ass to get the gas out of the tank, and the gas won't go bad if the truck sits for a few weeks, how big a deal it it in comparison to drive to the nearest station and get some?

Re: Nedd To Get The Gas Out O The Gas Tank

How far are you from the nearest gas station in all honesty? In the amount of time it took you to try and fail to siphon the gas out of your truck then come on here and start a thread about it you could have gone to the gas station, been back and mowed half the damn block! Work smart not hard dude.

Everybody does something different from the norm.

I just want to siphon the gas out of my tank!

So....EXCUSE MEEEEEE!!!

Besides knowing how to get the gas out of your tank would come in handy for someone on the list in certain situations.

Well....I was thinking of using a nail and hammer to do that and plug the hole with a sheet metal screw....

Not so awesome. Your '95 doesn't have that schrader valve, that pic is from a '97 or '98 and up.

My 95 Jimmy had a scrader valve, I hooked my fuel pressure gauge to it while diagnosing a fuel pressure problem.

It's right at the very back of the intake where the fuel lines enter the intake.
You can it in this pic, top left.
