How much is my dime worth?

I wanna sell my dime because i miss my fullsize too much. My dad got all pissy when i told him cus i have no job and he partially pays for my gas. So i'm looking to sell this or trade even for a fullsize with either a V6 vortec 5 speed or a 305 5 speed.

So back to the truck, my dad thinks it's worth 5500-6000 bucks. Its a 98 S10 single cab, stepside, with a brand new GM 2.2L crate that was put in over the summer. Also has a trans and rearend from a 95 S10 that had 40,000miles on it put in with the engine. Interior is decent with a stain on the carpet, both levers on the drivers seat are broke off the side, manual locks/windows, has AC and standard radio with cassette. Exterior is also decent, alot of scratches in the clear coat, but a good buff and wax should bring em out no problem. Had a few scratches down to the metal and primer that were touched up just to keep off the Iowa rust. Car also has no rust and new tires. I was thinking maybe $4500-5500?

Tennesse winters arent as harsh as Iowa winters on your vehicle either.

Re: How much is my dime worth?

by what you've said, it's probably worth $2.5k at the most.

I never said I'd pay that much for it. but that's probably what it's worth, sitting there. I'd probably offer, $2k, like the other guy said.

If he didn't live as far as he did, I'd probably wanna go look at it.

Re: How much is my dime worth?

look around on autotrader or craigslist and see how much other people are asking for their s10s in your area.

So pretty much having a brand new drivetrain does nothing for the value?

That just proves preventative maintenance wasn't performed on the factory drivetrain to me. All areas are different as far as truck value, but one ike that would go for $3g around here.

Re: How much is my dime worth?

Tell your dad to look it up on kelley blue book. It's www.kbb.com. I did, but since we don't know the mileage and the motor and body don't match anyway it'll be harder to get a true value. I put in 100K for your miles which I think is generous considering age and with an Iowa zip code in good condition it's worth a little over $2400. That's private property value, you selling it outright to a 2nd party.

Edit: I put it down as an automatic too. That'll raise the value a little.

Last owner had a rod knock, and the idiot who towed the truck never thought to put the truck in neutral, so everything got blown.

I guess I'll just try my luck on craigslist. Out here theyre asking anywhere from $3000-4500 on trucks that have rust and over 150k on them. I'm pretty sure i can do better than that.

Re: How much is my dime worth?

Your best bet is to try and trade straight up for a fullsize.

"Asking" does not mean they are selling at that price.

Seriously. My dads given me gas money once and i bout pissed myself when he did. Sounds like you need to get your priorities straight and worry less about getting another truck, especially a less economical one, and worry about getting a job

Re: How much is my dime worth?

Sounds like his best bet is to keep it, drive it, and get a job and save up for a full size..or at least be able to pay for his own gas.
