heater core
I'm a backyard mechanic, know my way around cars fairly well but....
My 6 cyl auto '01 Sonoma x-cab 4x4 with 108,xxx mile has been giving me grief the past few weeks. I'll post my findings and info on that stuff in a few days. My ????? is how the hell do you remove and install the heater core on this truck???? I have the whole lower part of the dash apart, trim pieces, the radio, climate control stuff out and the glove box all out and in the bed of the truck. ??? DO I have to remove the black "box" out from under the hood on the passenger side along with the PCM and battery??? I've NEVER done this on a truck before, have done it on my '95 COPrice and it was pretty cut and dry. This truck has me totally stumped Suggestions, and a generic you gotta do this would be appreciated. Paul '01 GMC Sonoma 6cyl auto 4x4 with 108,xxx miles on it '95 Chevy COPrice black black black, 144,xxx miles on it T-56, 3.73's and a few other things. |

Re: heater core
You got everything out except for one part.....
THE DASH. Seriously, you have to remove the dash you replace the heater core. |

Re: heater core
Under the hood, you should just have to take off the two heater hoses that go into the firewall. On the 2000's they can be accessed without moving anything else and the 01 should be no different. Take those two hoses off after you get the core loosened from the inside and it will slide right out. Good Luck.
