I was wondering if anyone knows how to rekey a doorlock,if there are any tools I need(besides the ones to take them out)?years age I had to replace the drivers door lock on my boxbody s10.I went to a locksmith with genuine gm lock.he took it apert rekeyed it and used a tool to crimp a new cap on it.I now have 4 s10s all 98+and I always am sticking the wrong key in the wrong truck.I would like to make them all open &start with 1 key.I know how to do the ignition but these little doorlocks in the doors?one of yall have done it before.can I get tumblers for them?is there a kit?let me know.
Any good locksmith can rekey the locks. Doing it yourself is possible, but can lead to some interesting issues if something goes wrong when they're back in the truck and locked.
Coral Spring Locksmith will sell tumblers. Or the whole ignition. I rekeyed the ignition on my sc2.. The guy in the dealer was even nice enough to help me do it right on the parts counter. They sell door locks and Ignition with no pins in them so you can rekey it to match your current key.
