Computer specs on 96/97 s10 2.2

So I was wonder what kind of computer does the 96/97 s10 have. A have a friend who can delete some things off the computer but I just need to know what type it is and any other specs. My motor is a 2.2 4cyl and it has an automatic transmission if that helps any.

Re: Computer specs on 96/97 s10 2.2

all cars 96+ are obd2 .. as for the fuel tables, there's not many options to increase fuel economy. the 97 is pretty basic and the 96 is even more so. The only difference between the 96 and 97 was that there is a camshaft position sensor in the 97 which doesn't actually provide any information to the ECM, the best thing I can do is equate it like this:

* looks at my Crank shaft Sensor *
"Yep, its at TDC"
* looks at my Camshaft Sensor *
"Yep, its a camshaft"

'91 Pontiac Grand Prix: 3.1 Auto, Bone Stock; Not even an upgraded Air Filter. My Hoop-dee.
'96 Sonoma: 2.2 5-Speed, K&N CAI, Pacesetter Header and 2.5" Exhaust with a 3 chamber Flowmaster. The Daily Driver.
'00 'vette: 5.7 6-speed manual, K&N Airfilter, aftermarket exhaust tips. The Fun Car, gets better gas mileage than my 2.2 >_>
'60 Studebaker Champ (truck): Unknown engine size with a 3 in the tree, Got big resto plans for this one

I was also wondering if a 97 ecu would work on a 96?

Re: Computer specs on 96/97 s10 2.2

I don't know. I think the 97s+ had a camshaft sensor in it that the 96s don't. I cant find the site that told me that back in the day to verify, but if you can find someone that has a 97 computer in a 96 then they can probably lead you down the correct path.

Best bet would be to stick with a 96 ecm, imo. check ebay, thats where I got mine.
