5 spd question.

Is it normal on a 96 2.2 with the NV1500 5 spd to not want to go into 1st unless you're at a dead stop? mine seems to refuse to go into gear until I COMPLETELY stop for first gear, all others it shifts into perfectly fine, its just first that I have trouble with when trying to downshift.
