1998 chevy s-10 zr2 fuel pump

hey guys new here hopefully you can help me out. We just replaced the fuel pump, we just did the actual pump not the whole assembly. It works exactly like the old pump, it will turn on you can hear it but sometimes the truck wont start, you have to get under and tap where the fuel pump is and it will run like a champ. Any ideas?

Re: 1998 chevy s-10 zr2 fuel pump

Have you had a presure guage on it. It might be 1 or 2 PSI under the required presure. if its no exactly where GM calls for it wont run. Mine was under by 1PSI and it cost me $250.00. Ya, I know that sucks, but what can you do. If you didn't change the whole assembly you might have a small leak at the assembly. there a reason why the made then together like that. If the pump isn't clamped in good enough it might cause a presure drop. I have changed thes efuel pump alot and not on my truck, on everyone elses. I do alot of work on other people trucks. some call me the S10specialist.

1 PSI of presure will cause it not to run. get a presure gauge. you will use it alot more then you think. most problems on cars ar iether fuel presure or spark.

I cant say it any easier then that.

don't ever just change the pump change the whole pump. just buying the pump replacement is no good.
