Xenon Headlight

I have 99 Envoy with the Xenon headlights. One of the headlights will not function anyone. To replace the headlight two repair shops have quoted me $1600 to fix. Is there a way to wire in a regular head light socket and bulb from a non-xenon headlight setup? There is about 6 wires at the socket. It doesn't seem as simple as a positive and negative wire

Any help would be appreciated

Re: Xenon Headlight

follow the wires all the way down... you'll probably have to pull the bumper off... there you'll find a regular plug into the ballast that leads wires up to the igniter or whatever it's called...

i wouldn't put in regular bulbs due to the heat, i put in different bulbs in my Fog lights and it melted the housing... buy an aftermarket HID kit and fab up a bracket to keep the bulb in the right position/sealed against the lens...

remember HID burn cooler then regular bulbs...

Is it possible just to wire a regular stock socket in from a Jimmy/Blazer off of the the existing wires that are out at the headlight now. I am use to a red and a black wire not 6 wires.

Re: Xenon Headlight

A 9006 halogen bulb will plug directly into the wiring comming from the main vehicle harness to the ignitor box that is located behind your bumper cover on the bumper support.

Now:
====IGNITOR BOX----BALLAST BOX/HEADLIGHT

Unplug the '===' from the ignitor box and plug a 9006 halogen bulb into it and silicone it into your OEM envoy headlight housing.

New:
========9006/HEADLIGHT

Or, buy an aftermarket HID off ebay for under $100.

Re: Xenon Headlight

Will I be able to reach the ignitor box if I take the grill off? If so how do I take the grill off? I see there is too clips on the top? Is there a trick on how to get the clips off?

Re: Xenon Headlight

take your headlights out first and then pull off the grill from the sides.. it is easy to snap the grill if you pull it from the top... i snapped mine when i was changing it over to a blazer front end... really sucked cause i had someone to buy my gmc lights, grill and bumper...
